competitions will be all the rage .... and gues what we can watch them as a
spectator in DTR .... and I am the Australian that is the one that the
other post mentioned .. regarding racing someone from down under with the

Around 1987 or so I got to go to TWO different tracks in
Australia - I still have the shirt from the dirt track, but I can't
quite remember where they were (Queensland, Western Australia?).
Anyway, the "highlight" of one of the tracks was a "bomber" class
where the cars had their rollcages welded on the OUTSIDE of the cars
in a teardrop shape. Cars got points by ROLLING other cars over and
by sruviving being rolled over themselves! The winner was the last
car running. The cars couldn't go over about 60mph or so I'd guess.
The winner this night got special bonus points by quickly spinning the
wheel just before the finish line and doing 2 or 3 barrel roll flips
over the finish line!! WHAT A HOOT THAT WAS!!! Funniest thing I've
EVER seen.
The other track as a 1/8th mile dragstrip. Their top class
was alcohol funny cars. It was interesting watching the Aussie cars
drag.
Gunner
the track in brisbane was more than likely Archerfield .....
