Hello,
I've installed the damage patch. But I cant find any place
to activate it. So what am I doing wrong??

I found it now, its in the "race" screen,
but then I cant use it in the career mode!!!!
because the Race screen is only for single races!!!

Did you already try out career mode?
Damage should be there, at least I had it after installing the patch, though
I wouldn't find it in any screen first.
So get out for a little training session and bump into a few things, to see
if it works...
