Holy what the hell happened?! Villenuve was the fastest? While im thrilled hes actually running good for a change how the hell did he beat out the McLarens? Oh well..maybe i should just accept it and be happy. BTW- those predictions actually sound reasonablly good. Except your forgetting that IF Hakkenin starts ahead of Schumacher he going to end up shunting him instead of blocking him. <G> Chris
Here's a hoot: Autosport is reporting this morning: "In Formula One, McLaren team boss Ron Dennis has called for a fair fight between the championship rivals this weekend at the Malaysian Grand Prix." Hmmmm...could that statement have anything to do with the fact that Dennis' *own* pick for the Championship is lurking down there in 8th place, while his not-so-beloved 2nd driver has the second-fastest times in Friday's combined practice, with Eddie Me Bucko and "Bang-Em-Back" Schumacher well ahead of the cryin' Finn and only .2 and .3 seconds respectively behind the square-headed Scot? My useless predictions: Villeneuve will blow up, Coulthard will screw the pooch in some public and inexplicable kamikaze move, Alesi will end up somewhere on the podium, Eddie will win, Schumacher will drop out late (after having blocked the bejeezus out of Hakkinen), Diniz will expire mechanically, Barrichello will get the other podium spot, and Hakkinen will break the car in frustration at not being able to get past Schumacher. How's THAT for going out on a limb? BTW, the first session started out slightly damp, and the second was dry. Friday's Practice results, 1st & 2nd session combined, placings: 1 Jacques Villeneuve 2 David Coulthard 3 Jean Alesi 4 Eddie Irvine 5 Michael Schumacher 6 Pedro Diniz 7 Rubens Barrichello 8 Mika Hakkinen First practice times can be seen at: http://www.autosportmag.com/row/news.cfm?id=2727 second practice times can be seen at: http://www.autosportmag.com/row/news.cfm?id=2725 For those who have access to Speedvision, live qualifying will be broadcast Saturday, October 15, from 1:00am to 2:00am EDT (0600 to 0700 Zulu, or GMT) BB
