One of the greats. I'll always be sorry that I was never able to see him
race in person.

Don't be sorry. Races he competed in were usually pretty boring with Mick
way ahead of the field.

Sorry to hear that, but as has already been pointed out, Mick ruled the
roost for a long time, to the point that GP500 got boring for me, and I
turned my attention to World SuperBike racing, it could be argued that Carl
Fogerty rules the roost there to, but WSB provides much more closer exciting
racing than GP500 these days.
No doubting Micks talent though, pity he never had much competition to give
him a run for his money.
I am sure he will be around in a lifestyle and sport he obviously loves.

Yeah definitely one of the greats, if not the greatest. He'll be missed on
the track but I think he's looking into team management so I guess he'll
still be lurking around grid :-)
mike.
Being an Aussie and being a fan of not only Doohan but GP bikers in general, I'm
glad he's called it a day after two warnings of his mortality.
It also keeps Agostinis record intact for a little longer! :o)

inspiring sporting careers of all time. The fact that, despite his horrific
injury list, he was determined to get back on a bike next year with nothing
to prove typifies the pure passion he has for racing motorcycles.

He is the complete package.....and will be sorely missed.
I dont have anyone left to root for in GP500 racing!! When Wayne Gardner left
i switched to Doohan and not that Doohan is gone...well I dont know who ill
root for now.
Chris
For a change, try not rooting for anybody. View the racing from a
detached, scholarly point of view. You never know, you might enjoy it
more:-)

I tried that when Alain Prost retired from F1, doesn't work, but I
switched to rooting for a team instead, go Jordan, I'm once again a
happy camper... :-)
Beers and cheers

Rumor has it that "The Go Show" is heading for GP500, maybe you can root
for him ;) Just kidding...don't flame me.
You know what, if Gobert had a brain and a little self control he could
probably be one of the top 3 in WSB or GP500 by now. What a waste of
talent.
