Check this site out. It has plenty of links to others who have built
cockpits.

That's pretty cool. Mine is much simpler and is shaped like a car. Built it for
$30 in two hours.
One of these days I'll post the plans and pics. As soon asI stop working six
days a week.

Looks very 30's and makes you feel like you're Tazio Nuvolari :-)
btw the half-tube was taken from a demolished petrolstation where it
was used to blind the pole from a pricesign.

principals are the same for a racing simulator.

I did build a sim a few years ago. You can take a look at it here:
http://d1o11.telia.com/~u11103812/simulator/bileng.htm
Buy it is not a real cockpit, more like a "car simulator". I have updated it
several times since then.

Try Tova's page at http://members.tripod.it/Tova/. It's in Italian, but
if you use Alta Vista's translator, you can read it okay. Any way, the
pictures tell the story.

I'm sure you're in sim info utopia right now, but I thought you might
want to check out the info I have on my meager site. I've converted some
drivers education simulators to work with PCs. Yet another option for PC
racing fun. Anyway, there may be some info there that may be of interest
to you. I haven't quite finished the sim conversion page yet, and I'm
still trying to dig up info on who originally manufactured these
devices. Good luck on your project, and let me know if I can help you
further by emailing me (there's an email link on my site). Here's the
URL:
http://home.att.net/~tonylong/
There's a picture of 2 of the units down about the middle of the page,
below (in the text) there's a link to the page containing the pics of
the base construction. I'm still constructing this page, so please
excuse the mess.
