Re: Daytona Wind

I don't know about wind, but I just finished my first full-length race at Daytona at 97 percent difficulty and the same thing happened to me. They'd catch up with me down the front stretch and I'd lose them down the backstretch. I don't know why, except perhaps they are taking a better line down the front stretch.

Is a Northwest wind a head wind or a tail wind on the front stretch at Daytona? I was racing earlier and noticed that the ai cars would always gain 2-4 tenths on me between the exit of turn 4 and the middle of turn 1. While i was able to make all of it back up from turn 2 to the entry to turn 3. Any answers would be appreciated.

Take a look at the line they follow on the front stretch through the tri-oval and try to replicate it in your car. Unless you find some rails and train wheels to attach to your car, you'll never be able to change direction as abruptly as the AI do. Marc. It's using the simcyberworld ai. I tried a race today with no wind and found that it was much less of a problem. Benjamin wrote in message <[email hidden]>...

So which is the best AI in your opinion? Do you have some comments about the strengths and weaknesses of each? We usually just hear "this one is the best" without much of a comparison or details. The Simcyberworld certainly promotes 3 wide...perhaps too much to be realistic...but I find all of them have AI slow downs in corners that are too dramatic and AI cars that get scared that you are going to ram them from the side even when you are holding your line perfectly. They drop off in speed dramatically as you pass and basically give you the position even though they could have raced you for it and probably won. This seems to happen at many tracks, though, so it is probably a limitation of the N3 design as opposed to the AI configuration of a particular track. Thanks, Marc.
