The Ridge Racer series is know for it's arcade like gameplay. It's unrealistic. You don't have to play the game to know that.

My scandinavian friends can read a test of the Playstation 2 on: http://www.dagbladet.no/pds/2000/03/06/196896.html A short english translation from the test about Ridge Racer 5 "Dagbladet tested the game Ridge Racer 5. Even we were the first in Norway to loose in a Playstation 2 game, we got hoocked at once. The game is true to life, and you can almost feel like sitting behind the wheel. There is no use in producing more car-games for other systems - it can't get any better than this anyway" I find the last two senteces pretty amusing. -- Olav K. Malmin remove spam when replying

And further down in the article: "The joypads are improved. They are now fully analog, eg. you can hit harder (Tekken) if you press the button longer." -- [asbjxrn] [lLd25z*%ds1-100/sLlSdI%ds2-O/sSl1l2*PlL0<l]sl 21172310731916131628237117 3237142523312SSSLllxq

It has been said SO MANY TIMES that "It can't get better than this", I remember VROOM on my Atari ST.... Anyway if newspapers were telling the truth life wouldn't be fun....

Of course I haven't :) But I found the statment that a console game played with nothing else than gamepads and not a wheel could be the best ever made pretty scary if this is the common way people look at driving games. Not a very good argument for heavy realism. If you wan't to be nitpicking I can not defent my statemt at all, but I thought that in this forum this would go home as a nice joke in the afternoon. -- Olav K. Malmin remove spam when replying

Reminds me of a review I read somewhere on the web a while back about one of the Pysgnosis arcade F1 games. The reviewer was complaining that the grass was too slippery and if you went on it, it was diffucult to drive!! If I had my way this person would be confined to 20 years solitary with only a PC loaded with GPL. Then he could complain about slippery:) Oh yeah he would also have to have access to RAS so we could help him learn to drive:) Chris;) * Sent from RemarQ http://www.remarq.com The Internet's Discussion Network * The fastest and easiest way to search and participate in Usenet - Free!
