GTR in US yet?

When will GTR be released in the US?

A US buyer asked about GTR's release; replies said early 2005 was expected and suggested buying the German version on eBay with fan English translation and pit radio patches. German owners called themselves beta testers awaiting a join-lag patch, and posters disagreed over the demo's graphics and physics.

I have not seen anything on GTR's site about release dates, and I only find a few German versions for sale on Ebay. Anybody got info? Thanks. WS

Early in 05 is the scheduled date. Whether that holds up is anybody's guess. dh

We Germans are their beta testers. We are waiting for the next patch.
Its so much fun to be Beta-Tester for GTR!!! Still waiting for the Join-Lag Patch. If they can work this problem out, its a great game. "Michael Ziegler" <[email hidden]> schrieb im Newsbeitrag news:corve5$eem$03$[email hidden]...

The demo is either A) an early press release intended NOT for the public but ...'The Press' That was the version released several months ago. or B) an arcade demo intended for magazine distribution. The physics from the first demo were already 2 generations old by the time that was released. The magazine demo did not even include the simulation level. So far the biggest complaint I have heard is the lag incurred when a new player joins in mulitplayer...a problem that has been with ISI based sims since 2000. I find it a little odd that so many people seem taken aback by that lag since it has been known for years. ISI with it's newest version of the Motor engine have overcome the join-lag by introducing a pretextured car. It would seem logical that SBDT will be able to incorparate that feature in their v1 of Motor in GTR. That being said...(to the original naysayer in this thread)what was in the demo that so disillusioned you? ^ dave henrie {is that even a real word?}

ok, compared to the glitzy Need for Speed type engines it might look mousey. And the sound? They supposedly sampled each and every engine while at the tracks. Compared to F1c, that should be a positive, so I guess compared to some of the add-on soundpacks for Nr2k3 it might sound lightweight. And physics...we covered that...the real sim, although I don't have it yet, (not a German) should have at least updated physics. If, however, you don't like the feel of ISI stuff, then even the full product may not be to your liking. Have you tried the Rfactor multiplayer demo? If so, how does that compare with your impression of the GTR demo? dave henrie

I wasn't impressed with NFS (the version b4 Underground). It was a game I played when I wanted to good laugh. I'm not being condescending, I feel the same way about Midnight Club 2. It's a silly game, but fun. I was mostly disappointed with the graphics in the GTR demo -- they seemed to be from technology 4 years ago. Perhaps the full version has better looks. I still haven't seen a racing sim that matches the graphics of N2003. I haven't tried Rfactor. I'll have to give it a go. Tara

One thing that people often forget to do is to set texture detail to 'full' instead of just 'high' - the textures look a bit crappy on 'high' but on 'full' they're the most detailed textures I've ever seen in a game. The 3D modelling in GTR is world class too. The only drawback is that the lighting isn't as advanced as something like TRD2 but it's still on a par with N2003 in that department.

I just installed the press demo and the first thing that hit me was how good the graphics were. Sounds seemed pretty good too - maybe a bit tinny.
