I have a G400 myself and with the 5.52.015 drivers and Matrox' OpenGL patch
it works. But as I said it takes some tweaking to get the performance
acceptable. In your core.ini you might need to set mirror refresh to
something higher than 1 (MirrorsEvery), and the filtering only works at 1 or
2 for me. You do have the required lines in core.ini, I suppose? Read the
read me for the OpenGL patch to get them. On a PII/350 64MB I manage 30-ish
fps in training, but I haven't played enough to race much. It drops a lot at
starts, but as the cars spread on the track it gets better.
BTW, Asbjrn Bjrnstad sound awfully Norwegian to me. Could I be wrong?

Download an OpenGL patch from Matrox' site. It's under 3D Gaming \ Game
patches.
The performance is a bit low, but it does work with some tweaks.

I've tried with a generic Glide wrapper but it seems not to work.
Thanx in advance.

Peder - what tweaks, exactly? I've got a G400 with OpenGL patch, which
I'd like to get GPL running on. So far, my only achievement has been
to get the menu screens with black backgrounds with only the text
visible. Once I got to the track, but only 2fps...
Modem troubles seem to be related to PCI bus overloading, so can't use
my Voodoo2 when online :-( The G400 might solve my problems, if only I
could solve it's problems!
Cheers,
Phil

You need to install the newest G400 drivers too.

Thanks, but that was the first thing I tried :( Aaaaaaaaarggghhh!!

Strange. You are sure you chose the latest, not the latest WHQL

I just tried again and GPL gets to the small view of the track,
but dumps back to windows before I can start driving :-(

Frame rate is okay for offline racing, but as soon as I try online (56k
usb modem), the frame rate drops to 4fps :-(
Man I'm getting annoyed with hardware 'issues' !

Man, tell me about it!!! Got the Voodoo2 because my on-board video
adapter cannot be disabled. Got a Creative Labs USB Modem Blaster
because the on-board WinModem was killing me on-line. Now I'm hitting
the same FPS problem you mentioned due to PCI bus traffic loads.
Guess I'm going to have to throw down for a new motherboard at least
so I can get an AGP Voodoo3 and be able to tweak all the BIOS settings
for max performance out of my Celeron 400e.

Don't get too excited - my G400 is AGP, and the same thing happens as
does with the Creative V2 :-( Good thing I'm planning an upgrade to
Athlon in the near future...
