Bruce, I've been thinking the same thing all day. It shouldn't be too hard to do a USAC carset from that era. There are plenty of photographs around and the carshapes are close enough to replicate the feel of mid sixties Champ Cars. Here is a link to the 1966 grid, there are some good cars and drivers in here: http://www.indy500.com/stats/grids.php3?raceyear=1966 -- don "Getting hit by a meteorite is an accident... everything else is driver-error." Get the warez version?? Only kidding!!!!!!! Similar position here, I'm not all that interested in the ovals in N3, and only have N3 and GPL. Old games are hard to come by here in Aust. Rafe Mc On Sat, 25 Mar 2000 21:07:56 +1100, "Dasman" <[email hidden]> wrote:

Speaking of Indianapolis, anyone got a good race setup? I tried running against the AI today (do they really need to brake that hard for turn 3?) and had a comfortable lead when my car got VERY loose from an overheated right rear tire. I finally spun the car out, recovering, only to spin again on my hot tires. :( Dan Belcher Team Racing Unlimited http://simcrashes.cjb.net

Hi all, I have both GPL and Nascar 3. I also have a copy of ICR1. I would sure like to get Dave's converter but i do not have any of the other games. More than likely they are no longer able to be purchased. I am interested in the road circuits for gpl. If i want Oval, I race N3. What can i do to get the tracks that would warrent me to get Dave's converter. If i could find the games i would pay for them. If i cannot then what can i do? Regards D. Taylor

Rafe, the Indy speedway takes on a Whole New Meaning when raced on in GPL. I've "raced" at Indy ever since Papyrus brought out their very first sim, and from then it's been a succession of ICR1, ICR2 (converted), the Nascars but the physics of GPL make it a completely new experience. It's a different feel ball-game altogether and I really hope that some enterprising young lad (or lassy) comes up with a "car set" that replicates the shapes/liveries of the 1965/66/67 period. (That Repco engine is pretty damn close to the appearance of the Ford used over those years....just paint the exhaust system yellow and we almost have a Lotus 38!) -- Regards, Bruce Kennewell, Canberra, Australia. --------------------------- Rafe McAuliffe <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... > Get the warez version?? > > Only kidding!!!!!!! > > Similar position here, I'm not all that interested in the ovals in N3, > and only have N3 and GPL. I've got one for the Yamura (as my alter-ego is Pete Aron!) for F2 level, Dan. Want it? -- Regards, Bruce Kennewell, Canberra, Australia. --------------------------- Dan Belcher <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... > Speaking of Indianapolis, anyone got a good race setup? Thanks DOn....yep, I've been sitting here for a while browsing through Dave Friedmans book covering the Indy years 1961 - 1969 and, man alive, somebody with the ability just *HAS* to create a car set!! I just wish that I had the time, patience and ability to play with basic 3DO shapes. Having looked at the current (GPL) default shapes, I think that the Eagle and the Brabham come the closest to providing a "base" from which to start. If the Repco engine could somehow be grafted onto the Eagle then we'd have the best of both worlds.......two different "shapes" in other words. (The BRM lends itself to turning into the Novi!!! Cover that H-16 with sheet-metal, paint it dayglo STP red and instant Novi) -- Regards, Bruce Kennewell, Canberra, Australia. --------------------------- don hodgdon <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:8bju3l$b75$[email hidden]... > Bruce, I've been thinking the same thing all day.
