Hello,
I just downloaded v2.2 of this fine utility, and found the gearchange
analyser, which makes me wonder, what is a "speedshift"? Is it good
or bad? I'm hoping bad at the moment as I don't do many!
And that leads me to another question. Are the revs just divided by
10, or is it not that simple?

Thanks

Speedshifting is changing gear without lifting off the throttle. It's a little
bit faster (so good in hotlapping), but increases the likelihood of the car
breaking (so is not good in racing).

Apparently, the figures are an approximation, because it's tricky to extract
the true value.

Thanks for the answers. And for the utility itself, of course

As David pointed out it can be both good and bad, depending on what
you think is the correct way to treat the car. I think it is bad!

Not quite that simple. The revs in the rpy-file are in some non-linear
units. Nate Hine has found some way of translating them to more
correct RPM-values, but I have yet to try this so I can't comment of
that.

Hey Martin,
Can it be that GPLRA 2.2 doesn't recognize the 6th gearchange of
the BRM?

It should... In what part of the program do you have this problem?

Oopsy <g> It does work ok, sorry for the alarm....I was using a lap
from Wolfgang Woeger, his 1:57 in the BRM at Rouen, and as it happens
he doesn't use the 6th gear at all....Again, sorry....it's a great
program, thank you!
