Hey Christian,
Question time!
What is your system? (Windows version, Videocard, CPU, Soundcard,
Wheel, Modem, Drivers, etc)
Where does it stop in GPL?
What was the last videocard you had selected in GPL 1.0?
What GPL language version do you have? (English, US or German)
Did you get any message when you patched GPL?
With answers on these questions, we _might_ be able to help you...

I have the following problem with GPL:
whenever i update the 1.0 version to 1.1 or 1.2 the game does not start,
gpl.exe just hangs.. I have no problems running the 1.0 version. Does
anybody have an explanation ?
Thanks
System: Windows 98, Voodoo 2 and Elsa Erazor III(TNT2), Pentium II 333 runs
at 400, SB Live, Microsoft FF USB
I use the 3dfx mode
i have the german GPL, patching the thing just works fine, no error messages,
but when i start it nothing happens at all and i have to kill the gpl-task
via the task-list

Just one question:
How long do you wait until you kill the task?
On my system, it lasts about 2 minutes until the game really came up -
I've changed some settings in the core.ini, now it lasts about 15
seconds.
I'm running the german version 1.2 with a V3 without problems, maybe
the program is confued because you've got 2 video-cards.
Did you have a V1 before?
There has been a problem with de-installing V1-cards, an entry in the
registry wasn't removed which causes problems.
Good luck,
Berthold

I assume the program is waiting for a reaction from a not-connected
network (or something like that).
My changes in core.ini:
[ Communications ]
disable_ipx = 1 ; Disable IPX support
disable_modem = 1 ; Don't look for/use modems
disable_network = 1 ; Disable network support
disable_tcp_ip = 1 ; Disable TCP/IP support
Happy racing,
Berthold

Obvious point maybe, but you *do* have the German patch, don't you? The US
or UK patch won't work.

Ok. You can try 2 things.
1.
Open APP.INI in the GPL Folder. Change the line
lastRasterizerDLL = rast3dfx.dll
to
lastRasterizerDLL = softdll.dll
If the game starts now, then you've a videocard problem. Try
reinstalling the 3dFX drivers.
2.
Run your CPU at normal speed.
If the game starts now, it doesn't like O'clocking...
Cheers!
Remco
Thats it !! :-)
I have to wait about 2 minutes then suddenly the main menu comes up, strange
behaviour i have to say.
Thanks to everyone !
