I was flying through the ranks before, but in this 911 turbo i cant finish
better than last! I keep spinning out. Any advice?
I had the same problem. I just had to learn to baby the car more and
realize that you can not just power into the turns as much as you could with
the other cars. This one has too much power and it will spin on you.

Maybe it's just me, but so far I really dislike the Golden era 911s. Once I
move into the modern 911s, everything is fine, but there is not one Golden
911 that I can dominate in.

By playing with car setups you should be able to get the car
competitive!

It's not possible to change setups of the 911's.
Changing setups is only possible with the pure race cars, the only way to
improve the car's handling is buying the upgrades.
The main problem with the 911 turbo seems to be that it reacts totally
different than the 944 you drive before.
As soon as you get used to it, you'll also beat the AI.

evolution. I usually lower the car and significantly stiffen it. Add
some downforce on the rear of most 911's to try to get them to stick a
little better, esp. on the tighter courses.

You can also play with the tire pressures as well, by the time
you have finished the car can be made fairly neutral.

That was the hardest part of the evolution for me too... The 930 is a
beast. I solved it by buying every upgrade for it, including the
stiffer sway bars, full race suspension and springs, and playing with
the setup a bit. By far the hardest car to drive....brake in a straight
line ;-)

You can switch the menus to English in the registry. Search for "need",
you'll find an entry for the language.
At last no more "Todeszone" nonsense...

I checked out the menus, but I RTFM and they state clearly that the setup
options work only with the race cars, so I did not try it. Maybe it's a
glitch in the german translation then?

The transmission setup only works for the race cars, everything else can be
setup for all the cars.

Actually, the english says the same thing; it is just wrong. As another
poster pointed out, only gear ratio's cannot be changed. Some of the
changes make sense from a car customization point of view (stiffening
suspension is not that big of a deal); others are questionable (pretty
extensive mods to modify downforce in a 356...)

I'll have to try that. My copy for some reason decided to install
with swedish menus. Maybe because I have a norwegian version of
windows? As ol' Homer would have said: doh!

I got a Swedish version too, and I have an English windows :-). I just
changed the registry entries to English, and most of the text seems to
be in English now, except for the "kr" button in the bottom of the
screen...

I had the same problems until I changed the setup of the car. Try Downforce
60 Rear, 50 Front and Tirepressure 35 Rear, 25 (or 30) Front. This changed
the car from a nightmare to a dream for me :)
