EA strikes again

Flame warEA's exclusive NFL licence and anger over exclusivity

News that EA had secured an exclusive NFL licence prompted complaints that exclusive deals, as with NASCAR, hurt consumers, and some vowed to boycott EA. Others blamed the leagues for selling exclusivity, and a licensing side discussion followed. The thread then degenerated into a long personal argument between Byron Forbes and Mark Davison about religion, death and Byron's earlier remarks.

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/sportsbusiness/news/story?id=1945691 EA ruined NASCAR racing by getting exclusive rights, now they're going to do the same to football. What kills me is that these corporations (NASCAR, NFL, PGA, FIFA, ....) let this happen. I know, it's all about money, and obviously EA has enough to kill their competition, even if they make an inferior product. I'm done with EA.

I was already done with them. Although, it was the NFL's idea to go exclusive with their license. EA just happened to have the biggest bankroll. Just like with the Nascar exclusive license, the person that gets screwed is the consumer. This consumer is speaking with his wallet. They won't be getting a dime from me.
Money makes the world go 'round - so much that people get quite giddy. And when the wankers make money from this, they go out to the shops to spend their money and find a bunch of worthless items all manufactered by fucken idiots just like themselves! :) What goes around.................... Very few make it mean much to be human. The human race is extremely over rated! "Indy" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

As a statement from someone who will kill any of their own childeren for being homosexual, "The human race is extremely over rated!" is interesting. I must admit, however, I was not aware that our species was up for any kind of performance review. I missed that memo.

Read parts back when I was at my Church of England school. Doesn't work for me, I'm afraid. The whole "love thy neighbour" bit is admirable but I think I'll stick with being an atheist. We're born, we live a life, we die then rot. Happy travels - there's no eternity in paradise. Live for now. Regards,

Byron, I'd like to take this opportunity to unilaterally bestow upon you the coveted John Simmons Humanitarian Award. A strange but wonderful award, it looks like a cross between a Cup Car and a Cruise Missile. Use it wisely... ;-)

Since Madden is from EA, it does not matter. A more serious matter is that Sony owns the Formula 1 rights and does not publish for the PC. There are not much useful mods out for GP4, so PC owners have a tough time. Jochen
There is a f#cking problem with this licensing... Can someone tell me why Coke, Ford, or others Pays through the nose to have thier cars or products in a movie, yet game writers have to pay them to have thier products put "xactly" like they were when Coke, Ford, or others paid through the nose for us to see the race we are "emulating", on our tv??? seems f#cking ludicrous to me. The main reason you don't see this type of licensing is money. With the exception of Halo 2 and maybe the GTA series. No game has made "Hollywood" type of money yet. So your not going to see too many of those types of deals. It might happen, but I don't think we will see anything like that in the sim racing niche. Unless you count the ad space Ratbag sold in the DTR games. (At least I think they did.) btgoss

Untapped resource if you aks me... I would think My employer would love to have thier image and imaginary signage at Daytona's trackside, say if the sim sold enough copies to warrant the exposure. To hell with them, i say, I personally liked the rwallace#2 car graffix that Papy shipped the NR series with, better than the original... IMHO especially with the uncanny abilities of most of the paint and cars that were readily available for download... lst time I checked my nr03 folder was over 1 gig in size, most of that was mods and car downloads (bloated friggin car downloads IMHO) of fellow racers... I downloaded the 1st release of the "actual" Cup cars, from a site that I am positively sorry I cant remember (to give them credit for awesome work) that was all... when I run the game, Im online, PERIOD. Hardly never saw the licenced cars, because I even downloaded the online generic replacement paint, which was awesome... I dont give a crap if you called the tracks "Big Oval 1" through "Mini Oval Flat" for each track Dega to Martyville. btgoss enlightened us with:

? Anytime, anywhere you use a copyright protected logo, etc., there's money being paid, usually by the entity using it, not the owners. Nothing new, been that way for decades. I don't mind about games containing only fake logos and "Coventries" if the game programmers make it excessibly easy to substitute the fakes with the real thing. GPL was the prime example in this, how long took it to produce the correct logos, images and names for the on-line community? A month? I do in fact believe that this is the only way to screw the lawyers: Produce games, put every development cost into the game itself, don't mind about rights AT ALL, never use ANY logo or name found in RL, and let people do whatever they like about the authenticity. ---Asgeir--- Indy wrote:

Exactly... because at some point say a big company MIGHT want to place their product in the product/game. at that point Just like the movies, if programmers/publishers dont cut off their noses so to speak, would make it a lot easier to get some projects going... Byron Forbes enlightened us with:

BS Plowboy. Yep, characters get paid to use the product. Any the owning movie company, etc. pays Coke, etc. for that. Thats why many times you'll see a carton of, say, milk, and instead of some brand name, it'll say "Milk" on it i.e. Company X didn't want to play the game in that case. No-one - that's my point. When people die it's game over. I have no problem with the fact that I cease to be when I die. > Yep, you're really catching on now! Now if I can just straighten you > out > on this mortality nonsense. Try.
These corps are powerless except when people buy their products. We buy their inferior products which gives them the money to screw others. Simple as that. I know (knew) people who have died. They died and they didn't come back. I understood your question perfectly - you said: "So who do you know that's died b4 and told you all about it?" And I replied as above. I know no-one and know *of* no-one who's died and come back. Never met a ghost, never seen evidence of ghosts. Therefore I believe death is the end. Clear now? Give me evidence otherwise and I'll take it into consideration - faith doesn't do it for me. How about you? Believe in the bogeyman?

But in todays world licensing is handled centrally to ease the process of incorporating series sponsors into series merchandise? Gone are the days when everything that was trademark had to be acquired seperately. You apparently are... I'm not aware of the Gods because I don't have "infinitly big balls and endless curiosity"!?!?!?!? Man that is pure class!!! D'you have trouble getting your pants on with those infinitely humongous gonads? You are a delusional muppet. Keep the claptrap coming, it amuses me :D
Discussing the existence of god breaks down completely as soon as one party starts using concepts as "truth" and "fact". This goes for both sides. It shows how completely unable we are to find something good in a discussion when "facts" and "logic" can't be used in rhetoric. I don't mind about people believing in gods as long as it helps them to lead better lives. Now, if christian people could stop praying and start actually *doing* something for those of more unfortunate positions.... *sigh* People went bananas over a killer whale that got out of a nasty corporate job and back to nature, but ignoring the fact that hundreds of thousands of kids die each year due to malnutrition and lack of medicines. ---Asgeir--- Mark Davison wrote:

large carrots This is a simple classic stew that makes natural gravy, thus it does not have to be thickened. Brown the meat quickly in very hot oil, remove and set aside. Brown the onions, celery, pepper and garlic. De-glaze with wine, return meat to the pan and season well. Stew on low fire adding small amounts of water and seasoning as necessary. After at least half an hour, add the carrots and potatoes, and simmer till root vegetables break with a fork. Cook a fresh pot of long grained white rice. Pre-mie Pot Pie When working with prematurely delivered newborns (or chicken) use sherry; red wine with beef (buy steak or roast, do not pre-boil). Pie crust (see index) Whole fresh pre-mie; eviscerated, head, hands and feet removed Onions, bell pepper, celery cup wine Root vegetables of choice (turnips, carrots, potatoes, etc) cubed Make a crust from scratch - or go shamefully to the frozen food section of your favorite grocery and select 2 high quality pie crusts (you will need one for the top also). Boil the prepared delicacy until the meat starts to come off the bones. Remove, de-bone and cube; continue to reduce the broth. Brown the onions, peppers and celery. Add the meat then season, continue browning. De-glaze with sherry, add the reduced broth. Finally, put in the root vegetables and simmer for 15 minutes. Allow to cool slightly. Place the pie pan in 375 degree oven for a few minutes so bottom crust is not soggy, reduce oven to 325. Fill the pie with stew, place top crust and with a fork, seal the crusts together then poke holes in top. Return to oven and bake for 30 minutes, or until pie crust is golden brown. Fresh Sausage If it becomes necessary to hide the fact that you are eating human babies, this is the perfect solution. Form the sausage mixture into patties or stuff into natural casings. Stillborn Stew By definition, this meat cannot be had altogether fresh, but have the lifeless unfortunate available immediately after delivery, or use high quality beef or pork roasts (it is cheaper and better to cut up a whole roast than to buy stew meat). 1 stillbirth,

I'm betting you'll be one of the hoards that become aware of the gods when it's all too late for you! :)

Ticklish, ain't ya :) Byron: "No need to beleive in that sonny - I'm aware of the existence of far worse and more mind bending things." Fear was assumed, which was silly, really. You're way too tough and manly to be scared of "stuff". Only homos and girlies get scared, don't they. You appear to have an obsession with Christianity? The gods programmed me to think there are no gods? Why would that be so? If I am a programmed drone then *obviously* I have no capacity for independent thought. Funny, I was thinking a similar thing. I believe (that word again) you to be a troll and that you're simply feeding off my responses. You can't possibly think what you're spouting is truth or fact. I continue responding to see how big a hole you will dig... And once again you do not answer my questions. Are your gods omnipitent? Do they know what every creature on the planet is thinking?

You've got a skewed way of thinking. I would agree that patriotism is a tool used by authorities to help control "the masses". Instill in the populace the importance of patriotism and how very bad it is to not be patriotic. Authorities: "If you don't like what we do you're not patriotic". Introduce a "patriot act", perhaps... Religion, by the same token, is very similar. "Opium for the masses". Do what we say and you will have an eternity in paradise. Don't do as we say and burn in hell. You're going on like it's a John Carpenter movie LOL!

A human body, that's me :) And STILL you don't answer my question but skirt around it. What IS the price of my ignorance. > There's a good Who song called "Who are you" - play it whilst looking > in > the mirror! :) > > "Who the fuck are you" - a lump of meat robot with a brain for a cpu - > or a being "in" a human body (you know - a "human being")???? I am meat. Humans just happen to be a species at the top of the food chain. You are close to winning, Byron. I know all you want is the last word. You used to be more entertaining than you are now. You sound more like a boring conspiracy theorist than the fun religious nutter you were earlier in the thread. Before I finish, tho, I just wanna try and collate what you've said. These are my interpretations. It might bring back the "fun" Byron. 1. All mass or organised religions are false Followers of these religions are drones. Likewise, atheists are drones. 2. You know of *true* gods. 3. These gods don't want us to know of their existence. All they want is to control us. 4. These gods occupy human hosts - usually those in positions of authority. 5. You believe in the human "spirit" or "soul" (quite a traditional way of thinking) 6. You believe in reincarnation 7. You believe there will be some sort of judgement day These gods of yours are fallable. I thought gods were supposed to be perfect? They don't want us to know about them but you know. Dang. How clumsy are your gods? If they *wanted* you to know why would you be going out of your way to tell us of their existence, thereby messing up their big plan? What big bad thing is gonna happen? You know, the thing that will prove you right when all is said and done? Will I go to hell? Ooooh - how Christian! What was that John Carpenter movie again, the one where that bloke put on some specs and saw that we were being governed by aliens or something - They Live. That was the one. Fiction.
Man this topic took a huge swing to the...well I don't know... Let's deal in some facts tho' ok. 1. Past lives are real...just ask Shirley MacLean. 2. People are not just meat... there is all of that bone. 3. Magic is real... just ask Zeigfried and Roy, or Penn and Teller. 4. Death is the end of life... but not taxes. Weyhey - christian references again! We covered "price of ignorance" earlier. But ignorance of the physical is not what you have been alluding to. Exactly, which just goes to show how stupid you are for asking for it since the only way you can know is via you're own experience. Btw, where;s your evidence about death that you claim to know about - oh hang on - believe is a fact. You're so stupid you cant even work out that beliefs are believed and facts are known. But no one can prove anything to anyone. The fact is that you stupidly dismiss someones accounts as rubbish for no reason. And the hilarious part is that you are programmed that way by the very gods you believe dont exist - LOL. It's another thing that sits right under the noses of zombies like yourself. It's perfectly allright for someone to be a christian, but speak as though there actually are gods and you're a nutter - seeing a bit of an inconsistancy there? Neo would have picked up on this - why not you?

Only the smart ones. Fwiw, most of them are as clueless as you are. I may have no brains, but I *know* not everyone loves me. You don't... *sniff* > Exactly, which just goes to show how stupid you are for asking for it > since the only way you can know is via you're own experience. Btw, where;s > your evidence about death that you claim to know about - oh hang on - > believe is a fact. You're so stupid you cant even work out that beliefs > are > believed and facts are known. Simply no intelligence at all! My "evidence" is that I have never come across any ghosts or spirits, nor anyone who has been resurrected or (knowingly) re-incarnated. Never known anyone else who has, either... All I'm doing is talking from experience. As, IN MY OWN experience, I've never had any communication from beyond the grave, never withnessed anything "supernatural". Therefore, in my experience, I believe death to be the end. No-one *told* me that death was the end, I came to that conclusion on my own. Many believe otherwise - that much is obvious - but I think the stories used to back up their beliefs are just as fictional as yours. Now, *any* religion, yours included, gives me any kind of hard evidence and I might start to reconsider my beliefs. In the absence of fact, tho, I ain't gonna make up a fiction - I'll take my own experience and work from there. >> *Much* more likely that it's spiritual connection rather than merely >> physical and emotional isn't? > > Pardon? I stuttered in my sarcasm and missed a word off the end of the sentence: "*Much* more likely that it's spiritual connection rather than merely physical and emotional isn't it? Kinda flat. I'll try harder next time. > The mere believer speaks as though he knows it all again. No. I speak as I see it. If you do too, good on ya. I don't believe you, tho. Rantings of a looney, I see them as. >> In what way are your gods (and they are yours) fucked up? > For fun, take some guesses! Na. I'd prefer some barmy fake "facts" from the self enlightened one.

No real answer, as usual. > It's simple buddy - the point is simply that if you're unaware of your > enemies then you have no chance. I don't believe your rantings. Therefore your gods do not exist. It's perfectly allright for someone to be a christian, but speak > as though there actually are gods and you're a nutter - seeing a bit of an > inconsistancy there? Neo would have picked up on this - why not you? Who's Neo? I don't mind people having personal, faith based beliefs. I don't mind you thinking that you're the only non-programmed being on the planet. Whatever floats your boat. I *do* think that religious beliefs are misguided and I don't like it when they spill over into the "real" world. You know, like the day that looks increasingly likely to happen - the day you source an automatic handgun and go around killing innocent bystanders in a frenzy claiming that they're the tools of evil gods. Or something.

See above. > The ideas I have exposed you too may not be getting thru atm, but you > will find these things for yourself and this will greatly speed your > understanding. What I do always works buddy! And here we are back at JUDGEMENT DAY!!!! YAY!!!! With NO mention of when this nonsense will all kick off! AGAIN!!! :D Oooooooooooo... I'm all shitting my pants and stuff now! > Well, you have been chasing your tale around in circles - keeping up is > tedious. You're enjoying it, really, that's why you won't let go :D You wanna sell this mess to whatever your equivalent of the National Enquirer is. You'll never become the infamous whacko you apparently yearn to be by spouting this garbage in RAS. You need a wider forum. You know, if you needed a cause *that* badly couldn't you have just been a gay rights activist or something? You had to pick a war with gods, didn't you. A war with the gods will no doubt mess up your parents house and affect your school results. Listen kids, Byron is NOT the messiah, he's a very naughty boy!
