My friend went up to Electronics Botique to buy Need For Speed: Porche
Unleashed because he loved the game when I brought it down his house to try.
I also told him about what a great deal it was at $29.99.
Well, we went up to EB today to pick it up. All the $29.99 stickers were
covered up with $44.95 stickers. When we asked the manager about it he said
that it was just a 'limited time special'. What a load of crap.
Needless to say my friend told the manager to shove it.
Beware the EB.
Eric
Think yourself lucky. Here in England the standard price for new games
including NFS Porsche 2000 is 29.99 which equates to $47.68. Obviously us
English are subsidising cheap American games.
Cheers

From my one recent trip to England, it seems that quite a lot of things are
priced about numerically the same between there and the US, just change the $
to pd. For your sakes, I hope that works with salaries too :-) But from what
I've read, the UK has some of the higher prices in all of Europe.
As to the original thread, sometimes games come out at introductory prices in
at least a few chains, then are increased. Presumably to generate fast sales
and perhaps word of mouth (net?). As often, they come out at a high price to
take advantage of newness and hype, then trickle down in price as demand
diminishes. Others just ride some constant (usually high) price. Such is
supply & demand and, more often, the whims of marketing. There is no
constitutional right to very low prices on all things at all times (gasoline,
games, cars...). Oops, getting pretty OT. Donning nomex skivvies.
Yeah yeah.. Maybe you guys are right.. It just pissed me offf that they
blatantly covered the $29.99 stickers with $44.95 ones.. Grrr..
Anyway.. On Electronics Botique web site, they reduced NFS: High Stakes to
$19.99.
Kinda off topic- but does anyone have the link to Electronics Botique rebate
offers on-line. They don't seem to be linked from the first page, but I
know they exist.
This is how I got a killer deal on Quake 3 at EB.
Thanks.. Eric

And doing a very good job of it, too. I might add that we do appreciate it
and if I'm ever in the UK, I'll buy you a pint at the pub mate ;)
Slot
