GPLEA releases Snetterton update with working AI

Ed Solheim announced the GPLEA's Snetterton patch, which added AI, more flag posts, a 2x2 grid layout for online races and collision fixes. He explained that it was separate from and more complete than the AI files Dave Noonan had made, and clarified which files needed downloading.

Just because I'm a die-hard Nascar fan doesn't mean I don't enjoy the occasional romp in my championship-winning Brabham once in a while. :-) I like to stay relatively up to date on what's happening in GPL. My reflexes aren't what they were when I was racing GPL full-time, but I still manage a podium finish many times. Plus, it's a refreshing change from the warp-fest Nascar Racing 3 pickup races that are all too frequent on WON. I just wish someone (Dave Noonan?) would build a converter to make GPL tracks compatible with N3. N3 is in desperate need of more road courses (Spa, Silverstone, Monza, and the old Watkins Glen). I'd even give Nurburgring a try in a stock car if the track was available, but then, I'm a glutton for punishment. In article <8cq8jq$tas$[email hidden]>, [email hidden] says...

Hehe, that sounded a bit different when N3 came out, u were talking of "hating" open-wheel-racing and said u were doin it only cause of the superiour driving model GPL includes. Also, heard yer words on GSB one day long ago stating u hadn't been in a GPL-cockpit for months, glad to see u back here, John :) Now the next step would be .............errr........ not keen enough to spell it out :) cya Maaki -- ________________________________ Check out my home once in a while: http://www.maaki.de.vu ........still a lot of work to be done ________________________________ John Simmons <[email hidden]> schrieb in im Newsbeitrag: [email hidden]... > Just because I'm a die-hard Nascar fan doesn't mean I don't enjoy the > occasional romp in my championship-winning Brabham once in a while. :-) > > I like to stay relatively up to date on what's happening in GPL. Snetterton has nothing to do with Mr. Noonan. And the GPLEA guys who created it acknowledged when they released the track that the AI were severely retarded. This is the fix. Kurt Arto Wikla wrote in message ...

The AI's in our update, got nothing to do with the AI's Dave made. However unlike Dave's AI-files [the ones he sent us before releasing it], our update will replace *all* the old lp-files, meaning the AI's will enter and exit the pits correctly etc. You also need the update if you want to fix the other issues we missed in the first version of the track. -- Ed Solheim The GPLEA Arto Wikla writes: > What is the relation of this AI to the AI provided by Dave Noonan > short time ago? I *do* hate open-wheel racing, but I also think that GPL is STILL the best sim available right now. If they ever catch Nascar racing up to the same level, I'd have to re-evaluate that claim. And no, there's no plans to re-start IGPS. :-) In article <8cs5ov$stk$[email hidden]>, [email hidden] says...

Bruce, I leave that bit of judging to you guys.. :))) What I can say tho, is that the files in our patch is not the same David made. Our patch also include the rest of the lp-files as well as a track.ini tailored to suit. So the cars will bith exit and enter the pits correctly aswell.
