I have downloaded the demo for NFS: Porsche Unleashed, and am trying to
install it on a separate machine (not connected to the net)
When ever I click on the "race" icon I get a brief snip of engine noise and
then a crash to the desktop. Sometimes the engine noise "hangs" and cycles
brmmm, brmmm, brmm etc. while I'm staring at the error message.
My system is as follows:
Win95 OSR2
AMD k6-2 400 on Soyo 5EHM mobo (not overclocked)
64MB PC100 Memory
DirectX7a
Voodoo2 12MB with latest 3dfx reference drivers
Elsa Victory Erazor PCI (Riva 128 chip) with latest Elsa drivers.
Aureal Vortex 1 soundcard, with latest Aureal reference drivers.
The crash happens whether I select the Voodoo 2 or the Riva128 card in the
3d setup utility. I have also tried disabling direct sound acceleration in
the soundcard properties, and turning off all of the sound in the game.
The sounds in the menus work fine....I'm trying to run it with the default
setting for everything.
Any ideas anyone?
