Getting the German GTR release to run without its CD

Owners of the German GTR release asked how to run it without the CD in the drive, since the official instructions said to disconnect the CD-ROM. Posters pointed to third-party no-CD executables and virtual-drive tools and explained how to use them with patch 1.2, and asked whether online play still worked. Several posts were taken over by spam recipe text that someone had pasted into the group.

Hello, I have just installed GTR FIA GT in German but, after having followed the instructions in order to make it start without cd I have found out that GTA works only if I disconnect from the motherboard the CD-ROM driver. My question is this: is it possible to execute the patched GTR with the cd-rom reader connected to the MB? Thanks

Check this site, http://www.gamers-paradies.com/index2.php There is a no-cd at this site which works on GTR, the original but not the patched version. You still have to deal with German, as the German-to-English patch doesn't work with the no-cd, at least I was not able to get it to work on either patch. If you find out otherwise, let us know, please. Alanb
How did you light on the unusual idea to disconnect the CD reader, if I might ask? "Steve Smith" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:0oWyd.75761$[email hidden]... > How did you light on the unusual idea to disconnect the CD reader, if I > might ask? > Actually, this disconnecting of the CD reader is in the instructions. But this is not needed, if one gets the no-cd from the site pointed to above. And the no-cd also works with the newest 1.2 patch. I discovered that I was not following directions closely enough when I ran the patch. It is necessary to rename any "patched" version in a specific way, if the no-cd is to work with successive patched versions. And so it goes and it does work. When this game comes to North America, I will most certainly purchase it. As it now stands, I must resort to what I must resort. :) Merry Christmas All, Alanb

I doubt it, at least not using the servers. IP-to-IP, possibly. LAN, more than likely. I'm just running the game to get used to it and get faster, until the game is release here in the United States. Later, Alanb

Alan is right, I just followed the instruction about disabling the CD-ROM. I found this program: Starfuck 0.82b that solved the issue. Thanks.
And where again would the no cd be found that works with patch 1.2? Is there also instruction on how to apply the no cd? "Alan Bernardo" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:%Xgzd.809628$8_6.155278@attbi_s04...

Pie crust (see index) Whole fresh pre-mie; eviscerated, head, hands and feet removed Onions, bell pepper, celery cup wine Root vegetables of choice (turnips, carrots, potatoes, etc) cubed Make a crust from scratch - or go shamefully to the frozen food section of your favorite grocery and select 2 high quality pie crusts (you will need one for the top also). Boil the prepared delicacy until the meat starts to come off the bones. Remove, de-bone and cube; continue to reduce the broth. Brown the onions, peppers and celery. Add the meat then season, continue browning. De-glaze with sherry, add the reduced broth. Finally, put in the root vegetables and simmer for 15 minutes. Allow to cool slightly. Place the pie pan in 375 degree oven for a few minutes so bottom crust is not soggy, reduce oven to 325. Fill the pie with stew, place top crust and with a fork, seal the crusts together then poke holes in top. Return to oven and bake for 30 minutes, or until pie crust is golden brown. This patch requires Alcohol 120% in order to run. Fortunately, I have that program installed on my PC. But, unfortunately, I have never used it and do not have a clue how it works. All I know is that my CD drive is F:; my burner is G:; and Alcohol has created a virtual CD Drive on H:. Can someone clue me on on exactly what I need to do to get this No-CD patch to work with my Alcohol 120% set-up? Thanks!
oil and flour, brown vegetables in the roux, then add chicken stock and allow to simmer for 20 minutes. Add the patties or stuffed heads, and some loose crawfish, lobster, long piglet, or what have you. Cook on low for 15 minutes, then allow it to set for at least 15 minutes more. Serve over steamed rice; this dish is very impressive! Stuffed Cabbage Rolls Babies really can be found under a cabbage leaf - or one can arrange for ground beef to be found there instead. 8 large cabbage leaves 1 lb. lean ground newborn human filets, or ground chuck Onions peppers celery garlic soy sauce salt pepper, etc Olive oil breadcrumbs Tomato Gravy (see index) Boil the cabbage leaves for 2 minutes to soften. In skillet, brown the meat in a little olive oil, then add onions, peppers, and celery (all chopped finely) and season well. Place in a large bowl and cool. Add seasoned breadcrumbs and a little of the tomato gravy, enough to make the mixture pliable. Divide the stuffing among the cabbage leaves then roll. Place seam down in a baking pan. Ladle tomato gravy on top, and bake at 325 for 30 - 45 minutes. Umbilical Cordon Bleu Nothing is so beautiful as the bond between mother and child, so why not consume it? Applying the patch is easy. Just rename the 1.2 executable to GTR_new.exe and then copy the no-cd executable over to the game directory. From there make sure you have at least one virtual drive available, created through Alcohol 120%. These instructions (also found in the no-cd zip file) are for those who have trouble running the Starforce protection scheme. Leave me your email here if you are having problems. Alanb

Thanks Neil, however the Install guide still mentions you have to disconnect your cd rom drives. Is this still valid? Cheers, uwe -- GPG Fingerprint: 2E 13 20 22 9A 3F 63 7F 67 6F E9 B1 A8 36 A4 61
