Woah!!!! You used to drive every night for 3 - 4 hours? No wonder I can't get really competitive. I can only play 3 - 4 hours a week!!!! ...Colin (wondering how he can get more track time in <g>) Martyn Danby <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

After having not played gpl barely at all over the last two-three months, I spent a few days racin' around online. The other night I noticed I did a sub 28 lap at monza. Of course I squealed like a young girl, tried to get my girlfiriend to understand (and explain the squeal), and danced around the room. I thought to myself, gee, I should recreate that in training mode and submit it to schubi and get on the list! the next morning I went in training, and after fourteen not so fun laps, I managed a 1:27:87 (.12 better than my qualifying time the night before). I remembered having checked out the list some time ago, and thought my time was good enough for the 30-40ish position. Wow, I thought, I'm in the top 30 or 40 in the world... aren't I great? But my stupid internet was down (it's never down!) so I'd have to wait. Well, since my provider just changed hands the new and the old providers were both telling me its the other guy's responsibility. By the time I got one to admit it was their problem, it was too late, I'd have to wait until the next morning. So.... 28 hours later, my internet is back up. And then I was even more depressed..... A 1:27:87 is only good for, get this..... 92nd position!!!!!! I SUCK!!!!! So I downloaded the fastest guy's setup (which happened to be an Eagle not a lotus), so I tried out the eagle with his setup and after just 4 laps turned a 1:27:80. So now I'll be waaaay up in 81st spot. Jeeeezus. How did everybody get so fast?!?!?!? Well, I'm gonna turn ten laps tonight and see if I can better it, before sending it in, and then I'll never bother even considering worrying about that damned list ever again! ; ) To all the inhumans out there... my hat goes off to you. scooter

Great story Scooter, I have broken 130 twice and can't imagine where the 2 - 3 seconds is going to come from. Sub 128's are but a dream. My hat is off to you! c wrote:

Frustrating, isn't it? :) My pb is 1:27.77, after LOTS of laps, so there is still a big hope for you claiming some points on the Monza list... Allthough there is some hope for me too, yesterday, after ANOTHER study with GPLDump, I noticed that I constantly loose 4/10's at the first lesmo. I watched some older replays of mine where I took the 1st lesmo allmost perfectly compared to my laps from the last couple of weeks. Now I only have to find out why I drove better in the past... Maybe I should switch to the eagle too, it seems that the Eagle is faster at Monza due to it's higher topspeed... Andre On Thu, 27 Apr 2000 19:09:03 -0700, "c" <[email hidden]> wrote:

Heyas... This may not work for everyone... I recently moved across the country, and in doing so, didn't get to race GPL for around a month. I found when I came back, that I was looking at the tracks and driving somehow differently. Maybe I'd shaken a bad habit i'd developed from driving every night for 3-4 hours. But since my return I've dropped nearly all my PB's (tho i'm no hotlapper) Try it sometime if you feel you've reached a plateau, take a week off driving sims and don't even think about them, if u can +) Md Andre Warringa wrote:
