Thats a sweet page, Ed.
I love the look of the vintage graphics/photos. Very nice.

What is the GPLEA's Pants Ring track?
Someone asked about the 'Pants Ring'. Others explained it was a tiny bowl-shaped oval released by the GPL Editors' Association, and Ed Solheim said it began as a test track for 3D objects before being released as a joke. The rest of the thread was puns and banter about favourite and hated GPL tracks.
Automated summary.

It's a tiny little high-banked circle track.
If it was made for any other sim, the people playing it would probably
be calling it a piece of crap.
Emperors New Clothes?
Tim
We're already calling it .. crap. What do you think Pants means in Pants Ring?
LOL.
It's just a test bed for the physics as GPLEA put it.

Good fun.

Sorry, I haven't heard anything about it, but heard it mentioned a couple of
times... Ok, I have heard about it, but I don't know what it is. How's
that?
scooter
It's a new track from our friends at the GPLEA. It's basically a
bowl, fun to play with, get it here: http://start.at/KOTR in the
Track & Details section.

Yep, but since GPL use the new game engine by Papyrus, ANY type of track has
it's fun. Nothing else... It's the game engine, plus the era of those
cars. Any track will be fun. ANY.

Actually the Pants Ring started out as a "test-track"... I needed something
simple and easy to test new 3do-objects in... so I asked Phil create a short
oval for me. And before anyone knew anything... we had a nice little track..
wilch was fun as hell to race around... So eventually we decided to release
it - as a joke! :-)

Too bloody right. Zandvoort and Mosport are pure fun. I love to see how far
I can swing the tail out on each corner rather than actually get a quick
time.

Don't worry - I can swing the tail out like a hula dancer. Doesn't make for
