Hi, Just bought CGW and there is an add about INDY RACING 2000. It's made by Infogrames and it's officially licensed by Indianapolis Speedway and Indy Racing League. The add is very short on details but it seem to be a "simulation" not an arcade game. It even include 9 tracks for the Sprinter/F2000 cars. The website is www.indyracing2000.com but it is not up presently. As anyone have some other facts about this game? The three screenshots looks good to me. Richard Marchand [email hidden]

It's still being developed. The issue of Incite Magazine www.incite.com with Juan Montoya on the cover has some news about it and a screenshot or two. -- <remove 7of9 for e-mail replies> -- Bill Jones e-mail addresses: Computer Sciences Corp. He was on the cover because the article talked about how he used racing sims (CPR, I believe) to "learn" several of the CART venues before he actually got to drive them in a real car. They also turned him loose with the beta version of the new Indy/IRL sim, and, in case you haven't heard, Montoya, Vasser, and Ganassi will be racing at Indy this year, in IRL-spec cars with Aurora power. -- JB Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.

Robbie Gordon got so damned fast by having IRL regular Greg Ray set up his car for him -- Gordon's team was co-owned by John Menard (who was also either a co-owner or the primary sponsor of Gordon's CART operation), and Ray was Menard's full-time IRL driver. Gordon's own attempts at setting up his own IRL chassis weren't even good enough to get him a decent qualifying run, so he went to one of Ray's backup cars, which he placed well in the field, and then almost won the race. Vasser and Montoya have been fast in testing, but there's a LOT of talent in the IRL, and I seriously doubt that Montoya and Vasser will be able to dominate Indy the way Penske did in '94. -- JB In article <01bfba7f$749e2f40$67d3fc3f@packardbell>, "David" <[email hidden]> wrote: > > > > Ganassi Racing (Montoya's team) are doing Indy this year. It'll be interesting to see how well the CART teams do. I'll actually watch the race this year (for the first time since the original IRL Indy). Yeah, OK - more wishful thinking without any substantiation from Papyrus, but they've got to have *some* plans after NASCAR 4, And the N4 Craftsman Truck Pack, And NASCAR Legends 2, I guess that puts us in 2001/2002 :(... Kendt Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.

Why would Montoya be on the cover for an Indy racing title anyway? He is part of CART not the IRL. I guess Incite Magazine is just not 'incite'ful about racing. Or am I missing something. The way his season is going I wonder if he will still be in CART when the title ships.

Ganassi also has a much better team then Team Gordon will ever be. Hell Robbie was screwed due to the team not managing fuel on the last stint. The IRL guys are going to be wondering how come these guys are so damn fast. Dave

I would hope the CART boys do well, but unless most of the team is IRL experienced, they will be operating at a disadvantage. Many of the teams have been taking the same engines and chassis and tires to Indy now for 5 years. That is a-lot of onsite experience the Gannassi team just doesn't have. Sure they were there before, in the 'Good Ol Days' but the two vehicles are so different, what they used back then just doesn't seem to be relavent to me. I DO know that a former Winston Cup Nascar teamboss is heading Chip's IRL run. (interesting combo.) Here's my forecast... Vasser and Montoya qualify about 4th and 6th. The IRL hotshoes run away early but pitstops and getting a few laps in brings the CART boys up to near the front. Meanwhile Al Unser Jr. is just about to go a lap down. But the leaders start bre aking. Vasser calls for a wing adjustment but gets a round of Wedge instead, and Montoya turns off at the new F1 Infield. One by one the IRLegulars break and fade until Al Unser Jr. picks up his family's 8th Indy 500 win. copythis down somewheres and just see how close I get. dave henrie David wrote:

Aha, that explains why he was on the cover. I know the Ganassi boys will be at Indy this year (and I hope they do well) I just thought it was strange to have a CART driver (I don't consider either Montoya or Vasser IRL drivers) in an article for an IRL based game. Could it be (shock) that there are no IRL drivers with enough 'consumer appeal' to appear on the cover of Incite? What were his impressions of the game?
