GPL: After 17 months, I just discovered something...

GPL's hidden race programs with track maps and records

A player discovered after 17 months that clicking the corner of a track's program cover in GPL opens a booklet with a map, statistics and lap records. Others shared custom programs for converted tracks, track-map collections, and tips on resetting records corrupted by online warping.

If you click on the bottom-right corner of a program cover in the track selection menu, it opens up! It has a track map, stats, and the fastest lap. I just discovered that today :)

Hey Rob, If you use the converted tracks for GPL, I've made programs for most of them with covers, track maps and new event pages. I've also included a different drivers portrait on the inside page of each program. They can be found at: http://www.ianparker1.clara.co.uk/clara.net/i/a/n/ianparker1/webspace/gpl/ and, http://www2.tpg.com.au/users/brucek/hmrc/index.htm -- don "Getting hit by a meteorite is an accident... everything else is driver-error." When you have one open you can just keep hitting the arrow button at the bottom of the page and flip to each track and see the names of all those annoying people that have taken over the track record on your computer, with times you can only dream about. I have lost the track record for every track on my computer except for the PantsRing, which I do better on because it doesn't have any of those irritating gpl requirments like turning and braking. I only have the record on one track - Silverstone. Even on the tracks that I *haven't* done online, the AI still is faster... Eldred -- Tiger Stadium R.I.P. 1912-1999 Own Grand Prix Legends? Some lucky git got a 4 second lap around monza in one of the online races. It has wiped my best off, and I have no chance on earth of getting it back!! Must have been due to some huge warp or bug in GPL!! No doubt to say, this driver had pole for the race.

I guess the author of the manual is happy to read this... You can find this at page 26, in the Italian version at least. robswindells ha scritto: > If you click on the bottom-right corner of a program cover in the track > selection menu, it opens up! If you do a screen dump from each track map (and you have a printer) you can build a nice little booklet with all the track maps in it, like I did, which makes learning the tracks easier. Actually i've still got all the .bmp files in a nice little 250k zip with labels and everything attached if anyone wants it. :)
Simon Brown 15 May 2000 02:40 UTC#270220
If you keep clicking on the green square in the lower right hand corner of the screen you eventually get to a screen where you can race a 1967 F1 car and it's all in 3d and everything! I only just discovered this, it's really cool... :)
Don Scurlock 15 May 2000 03:02 UTC#270231
I had someone do a 6.4 second lap of Monaco during an online race. Just delete the record.ini file and a new one will be created the next time you use the track. [email hidden] (David Buttery) wrote in <[email hidden]>:

I don't think the track programs are very realistic though, I mean, there are no coffee stains, no wrinkled pages, and no torn pages. It really brings the whole thing down David Karr <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:8fmitr$4cd$[email hidden]...
