no force feedback in gp3?

According to Behind the Wheel Racing http://gp3.btwracing.com/ there may not be any force feedback in gp3. This vil definitively be a big drawback for the game. I was looking forward to this game, but if it doesn't have any force feedback i don't think I will by it.

Here is my guess. GC has said over and over he will be re-using much of his previous code. He has spent a great deal of time and effort with his work and he isn't inclined to just trash that and start over. So...I'm supposing...he chose to re-use his steering code(or atleast a large portion of it) and since that was written long before FF was available, it just wouldn't be possible to include it without a major re-write. (now I get really confusing) Think of the difference between N3's FF and GPL's. Granted GPL didn't have FF to start with, but when they DID include it...it was fantastic. Now many GPL drivers have found the FF in N3 to be lacking. Possibly because it just wasn't possible to write decent FF into the creaky N2 engine that N3 was based on. So I'm guessing the GP2 core of GP3 prevents decent FF. Would I be wrong to assume that? dave henrie Simon Brown wrote: > > I don't think it's a justification for not buying the game, but I agree it's > a really big disapointment. I don't think it's a justification for not buying the game, but I agree it's a really big disapointment. It's also hard to fathom.
Well if it has taken four years just to update GP2 (not my opinion by the way) then how long will a completely new sim take?? If I were Geoff Crammond, I'd get these two games out of the way, build a bigger developement team at Symergy and then start with a clean piece of paper for GP5. Simon.

The same thing occured to me. N3 has really poor FF when compared with GPL and we know it's an update of N2, which started out life as a Dos game, just like GP2 (this of course promises well for the FF in N4 btw). When I look at everything from GP3 so far (and believe me i've seen everything) i am seeing more and more of GP2 in there. That's not to say that GP3 and GP4 won't be great games, because they will. Neither of them will be in the same league as GPL though. GPL is kind of unique. I wouldn't be surprised if it's still un-surpassed in three or four years time. Even the Papy games with the same physics engine like N4, and possibly a CART 2, won't be as thrilling to drive and race as the GPL cars. Oh well, it'll take me three or four years to learn the ring. If I were Geoff Crammond, I'd get these two games out of the way, build a bigger developement team at Symergy and then start with a clean piece of paper for GP5. Simon.

Papy has shown that GOOD force feedback support adds a tremendous amount of quality and realistic feel to serious driving sims. Joe McGinn _____________________ Radical Entertainment

The thing is, what enabled GPL FF to be so great is the 3D physics model. The weight transfer of the car is integrated into the FF. GP3 should be able to do the same thing, to the same great effect. Unless they don't have a true 3D physics engine, which would not bode well for the quality of the sim. Joe McGinn _____________________ Radical Entertainment

That's why he needs a bigger team at Symergy, just like I said. Don't you get the feeling that until recently there's only been a handful of people working on GP3? Also when you read that 'Geoff Crammond remains wholy responsible for the simulation and 3d engine', you wonder if he's still bascially writing the whole game himself.

I'm reserving judgement on GP3 until someone (hopefully me) gets to try a demo or the full game :) Would be nice to have internet play and FF though (even though I don't use FF anymore) -- Ian Parker == Joe62 <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... > Jo Helsen <[email hidden]> wrote: > > >There we go again.... > > > >Some people want a carphysics simulator, but some want a _racing_ simulator. > > > >It's just a DIFFERENT product.
