Any tested new detonator drivers 5.22 and F1 2000 with FSAA?

Yes, on F12000. First, you have to turn down the resolution. Otherwise, the game won't
be playable. It is already not so playable even on a fast system. Second, the ingame
menu turns black but you can still click on the option buttons, if you know where they are
supposed to be. Of course, since FSAA does not work on the ingame menu, you can't tweak
the car because everything is black until you click on something. Once you are in the
race, everything works perfectly. Shimmering is gone. Fence looks like fence. You get a
better view of the road and corners. Everything looks smooth but the image is a bit fuzzy
and not so clear. I used to play under 1027 x 768 with graphic settings set to high.
With max FSAA on, I have to turn down to 800 x 600 with graphic settings set to high.
Still the game is barely playable in a 22 car race. I say about 25 to 27 fps.

I tried them last night. They do make thing look really nice i.e. no more
jaggies but they do slow things down a tad. I've done a few benchmarks on
various games and FSAA slows things down by half. This is fine on old stuff
like Colin McRae Rally (which now looks fantastic!) but since F1 2000 runs
slow to start with it isn't worth it yet. Basically it's good for all those
old games that won't run in high res.

Heve you seen these benchmarks of FSAA on the Geforce?

They are crap. Anyone who wants to use FSAA should fork out the money
for a V5 5500 or 6000. If you want both FSAA and T&L then wait a
generation or two of vid cards to get it.

and I already have a GeForce SDR. I am leaning towards V5 since games are playable using
FSAA at a higher resolution. However, I have to wait and see if 3Dfx Win2k driver is good
enough. No need to make my decision now. <G>

No Win2K driver shipped with the cards. Might have to wait some time
for that. If I can run my sims at 640x480 w/FSAA and get a decent
frame rate then I will be happy. Don't know if even a V5 5500 w/FSAA
and a P3 500 will give me that though.
