Does anyone know anything about the future release of Skip Barber's racing Sim? I am looking forward to it but don't know much about Bethesda software? Any clues out there? Thanks Larry

I hang out at Lime Rock Park, which he owns, and plan to take his school. I preordered it at the begining of April when it had an official release date of April 27. I planned to announce this fact here on the ng and do a full, extremely in depth report. Then Powersims announced they had confirmed the release had been pushed back to November, pressumably to concentrate on their new drag racing sim. This is odd, since they had only announced they were developing this drag racing sim a week or so before. Why do you drop a nearly ready to ship to game in favor of one you've just started working on? Somthing weird is going on at Bethesda. I havn't personally contacted them yet, but I note that the title has disappeared, without comment, from their online store.

I wonder if Skip dropped them. I have not heard good things from Bethasda and well drag racing chassis dynamics are not near as complicated as a road racing cars. They might have been way off to where Skip pulled his name from it. I too was looking forward to this title. Dave

Thanks for the note, Andrew I think that is the URL that got me so excited in the first place, but alas we will wait and wait till someone gets it right again (GPL)? I think it is my nature to want new things to try so I was messing with F1 2000 for quite a while and never got it to work despite the great help from this forum. In the meantime I didn't drive GPL and when I returned I was and am still amazed at the feeling that game is able to translate from computer to brain. My concern, and I believe it has been stated quite a few times before, is the marketing problems that the game makers face. Most of the market is young adults and children with the hardcore simmer left to sift through the entertainment to find a challenging enough title to spend money and time on. I'm not wealthy but GPL gives an idea of how good a sim can be using 2 - 3 year old technology. If someone were to produce a kick ass sim again I would spring for the privilege and would not be afraid to drop $100 or more if that is what it takes to get it done and get a profit to the developers. I am reminded of Auto Cad. It costs $2000 - $3000 to play with the big boys but AC is the big dog and people will pay to have the features that AC offers. What if there were a sim that was SOOOO good it had to cost a bundle but was worth every penny? I would be all over that in a heart beat. $.02 LARRY Andrew Turner wrote:
