What I would like to do is convert tracks from Bill Elliott's Nacar Challenge to N4 <G> I love that game! Phillip "Chris Bloom" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

Surely if Nascar 4 is going to be using a similar physics engine to GPL then it should be quite easy to use the GPL circuits in N4. I suppose we will also be able to use the converted tracks from N99/3/ICR2 aswell. I'm surprised I havn't seen more talk about this possibility? The reason you havn't seen any discussion of this here is simply that it would amount to idle speculation. The use of the physics engine says nothing about file format and game format compatability. The whole thread would go something like this: "Wouldn't it be cool if we can use N4 tracks in GPL and vice versa?" "Yeah, that would be cool." Wouldn't it suck it if we can't?" "Yeah, that would suck." There, I've completely covered the subject all by myself. What we ARE doing is holding our breath and waiting until we actually have some facts to rely on.

I loved playing Indy 500 on my Amiga, more so than any other game to date. Ovals are cool to do, not to watch (gee, just like golf!) Can't wait for N4. I hope it doesn't have that 'canned' car jiggle. Hated that in the N2 demo.

Plus since we be sim racers...we HATE to idle.... lemme put in two cents here for speculation N2/N99 can be said to be one track format. GPL the other(although somewhat similar) . If the Wizzes like Dave Noonan can make those two formats work together, then I would expect the file formats for N4 and GPL to mesh up very nicely. I would expect the problem tracks with Big Elevation changes that GPL can do but N3 cannot will be very possible with an GPL>N4 convertor.(can you say TPTCC touring car patch races at the RING!) dave henrie
