The first part is to let AI's speed up as soon as they cross s/f, otherwise their first full (timed) lap is done in "out-lap" pace which is ~9:30, even for Clark. The second part defines the place of the pitstalls. The distances ("18030") is the distance from s/f, these values give boxes before the 2nd Karusell. If you want them anywhere else, experiment a little. The "-4.3" defines the lateral distance from the center of the track. You don't want the cars to be in the middle of the track, nor outside the fences :-) This is halfway ON the track, half on the grass. Works OK. Ofcourse you can do this on every track, but it's nowhere as useful as on the Ring. ======================================= pit_at_end_of_track = 0 ; 0 if all stalls beyond s/f, 1 if not ======================================== [ pit_lane_0 ] lane_on_right = 1 ; 0 if lane on left, 1 if on right lane_has_wall = 0 ; 0 if no pit wall, 1 if pit wall exists lane_bounds_dlong = 22740.4 253.1 ; start/end dlong of the pit lane lane_bounds_dlat = -11.7 -2.8 ; start/end dlat of the pit lane pit_board = 11.0 1200.0 -100.0 100.0 ; dlat of board, dlong of board, dlong LOS start, dlong LOS end (last 2 not used) stall_0 = 18230.00 -4.30 stall_1 = 18219.47 -4.30 stall_2 = 18208.95 -4.30 stall_3 = 18198.42 -4.30 stall_4 = 18187.89 -4.30 stall_5 = 18177.37 -4.30 stall_6 = 18166.84 -4.30 stall_7 = 18156.32 -4.30 stall_8 = 18145.79 -4.30 stall_9 = 18135.26 -4.30 stall_10 = 18124.74 -4.30 stall_11 = 18114.21 -4.30 stall_12 = 18103.68 -4.30 stall_13 = 18093.16 -4.30 stall_14 = 18082.63 -4.30 stall_15 = 18072.11 -4.30 stall_16 = 18061.58 -4.30 stall_17 = 18051.05 -4.30 stall_18 = 18040.53 -4.30 stall_19 = 18030.00 -4.30

I seem to recall that there is a way to move the pit stalls at the 'ring, so that you don't have to drive a whole lap before a "flyer". I'm sure, months ago, somebody said they'd done it, so that the pit was somewhere after Karussell, but I can't remember whom. Any help would be greatly appreciated -- -Ace-

I've posted this earlier here but can't find the link to that post so I simply repeat it: Get my program "Ringtrainer" from this link: http://www.joachimblum.de/ringtrainer.htm What the program does is to simply change the position of your car as it is deployed onto the track. This position is defined within the "track.ini"-file. Ringtrainer now lets you chose between 11 different positions along the Nurburgring, each at the beginning of a particular section of the track. The main advatage of this is, that you can now drive through this sections multiple times in series without having to complete a whole lap inbetween. By this you can remember tricky corners faster. Because it's written in German, I will give some installation instructions right here: 1. Download the file called "Ringtrainer.zip" 3. Download the file called "Ringtrainer_Audioupdate.zip" 2. If you don't have the VisualBasic Runtime Modules you must also download them from Microsoft by following the link. 4. Extract the two Ringtrainer-zips into a single folder. 5. Make a backup of your original "track.ini"-file that is in the "\tracks\nurburg"-folder of your GPL-installation. 6. Copy the "track.ini"-file of the Ringtrainer-folder into the "\tracks\nurburg"-folder. 7. Ready to rumble ;). Fire up Ringtrainer by double-clicking the exe-file. 8. Now you can choose a particular section from the dropdown-list and the program will show you the part of the track redlined in a trackmap and the deploy-point of the car via a little sceenshot. 9. You now have two possibilities to go on: Either you start GPL normally and can start driving from that deploy-point over and over again. Or you check the option "F4 als Hotkey aktivieren" and launch GPL via the "Start GPL"-Button. This will enable the hotkey-feature of Ringtrainer. This feature enables the F4-key as hotkey. Every time you press F4 during playing GPL, Ringtrainer moves you one point forward on the track and gives the actual positioning via voice-output so you don't have to quit GPL to choose another part of the track for training - it can be done while in GPL. Unfortunately this requires some computing-power so I left it optional for those who don't have the big PIII or Athlon under their desk ;). Note: If you're a user of the opengl-patch then you also might experience huge framerate-hits and therefore better leave this option off. OK, try the program. If you have questions or problems, you can reach me by the mail-address given on the Ringtrainer-page. An English version is underway. Regards Crash

Thanks Don, That'll come in very handy indeed! -- -Ace-

Has anyone ever tried simply driving backwards across the s/f line upon exiting pits, and then driving a full lap? It has worked in some sims for getting timed first laps, but I've yet to try it in GPL. If the game resets the timer every time you cross the s/f line one way or the other, this will surely work. +Cinquo

Thanks, I'll give that a try. I speak a little German, so I should be OK :-) Joachim Blum <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:8i7tn4$rl7$10$[email hidden]... [stuff snipped] Hi!
