GPL's Mexico circuit: loved and hated

Players debated GPL's Mexico track, with some loving its mix of corners and others hating turn one and the esses. Uncle Fester found he was faster there in an F3 car than an F1, and the thread turned into jokes about who was slower than Eldred. Rick Boyd pointed a newcomer to GPL Dump, SpyGirl and Replay Analyser.

You hate this track ??? It's one of the track we raced the most when i was on a LAN... There is everything.. fast corners / very *very* tight corner, flat corners / banking, big strait braking / curved braking... And you dont have a chance if you re not precise with these tires on the apex... I remember the first time we raced at Monza (after a lot of WG and Mexico), we wondered what was this boring flat track doing here... Ok, it's not so bad ;) Ok, i know i'm completly OT here, but it's just some tought about the track we like/we hate... But I'm not surprised to see (in previous posts) that the tight tracks like Rouen, the ring, or Mexico please the F3 drivers... Seb PS: I'm back from Le Mans (i was there for the qualif session), i don't know what i can do to have this track in GPL... Such an hilly fast track... Hope the Panoz will win (INCREDIBLE SOUND!!!).

I hate Mexico. I don't think I've ever had one single lap here where I've ever made it through turn one without a huge moment or a crash. And then the Esses..... ugh... 1:52 best in F1 and I've never driven F3 as that's just too damn slow for me! ----------------------------------------- Dan Belcher Team Racing Unlimited http://simcrash.00game.com

I've been trying to fill in some of the blanks in my best laps page for my F3 driver lately. So today, I go out to Mexico. Believe it or not, I'm 4 seconds *faster* out here in an F3 than I am in an F1!! Has this happened to anyone else? I also noticed that while I hate this track in an F1, it is downright enjoyable for me in an F3. -- Chuck Kandler (GPL Handicap of +210.00 as of 6/15) K&S Racing http://www.fortunecity.com/silverstone/thepits/195

Hell, it took me 4 tries in order to get 1 timed lap so I could submit my F1 GPL Rank score. 4 tries!! If you've never had one single lap at Mexico where you've not made it through turn one without a huge moment or a crash, then there's NO WAY you could have turned in a 1:52 there. Unless you survive all your "moments," that is (which I never do!). <G> -- JB On 17 Jun 2000 22:07:13 GMT, [email hidden] (Dan Belcher) wrote:

Four tries! I wish it took me like a half hour and I still only did a 2:09.94. That was the frist clean lap, slow but clean! Then I left and was done with the track. This weekend I returned with an F2 car to see if I could figure out the line. . . no chance in *!@@, so maybe if I feel like some more torture I will try F3. What is the most stable F3 car? I love it I have noticed that there are many drivers F2 and F3 GPLRank scores/handicaps that are better than my F1s! Really dipressing. But then again what do I expect with an 11:29.07 at the Ring. Hehehe. Yup, my only clean F1 lap out there was a 2:24.96, but in an F3 I've run 2:20.55. Still got about 11 seconds to go to catch Mark Seery, though. :-( Try an F3 race against the AI out there, it's fun! If you get slower than Eldred Pickett F3, you got *problems*! <G> (In an F1, of course!) -- Chuck Kandler "If guns don't kill people, people kill people, what happens if you give a gun to a monkey?" Registered Linux User #180746 http://counter.li.org

I just got monza and kyalami just below his time, though! (well, some tenths anyway). At the Ring my time is lousy, that I can understand, but my time at Spa I don't. All I can do is 03:32.40 and I really feel I'm all the time on the very edge with the Eagle. The Papy benchmark is 03:20:34 so I'm very much off pace. Any advice anyone? Could some 'magical' setups help? I'm using pretty much my own 'from the scratch' setups. I've read somewhere about a program that you can compare your driving to others by using replays somehow. Jyrki You need GPL Dump and GPL SpyGirl. You can get them here: http://www.theuspits.com/ You may also want to try GPL Replay Analyser which is also available at The Pits.
