Hi guys... During the Le Mans race (Go Tom Kristensen), one of the danish commentators, claimed that on some tracks in CART you drive with AVERAGE lap speeds over 400 km/h (238 mph). As an average speed this sounds a little fast to me. What is the fastest AVERAGE lap speed in CART, and on which track?? A content Danish guy :-) Lars Gaarde

The pole at Fontana last year (Scott Pruett) was 235.398 mph (average). Best Lap during the race was 230.190 mph. Trap speeds were over 240 mph. -- Ken MacKay Halifax, Canada GPL Handicap +111.61

I didn't really care if it was on ovals or road courses. I was just interested in the fastest lap speed. Thanks for the answers guys (isn't a mile 1680 meters, Toni?) Lars Gaarde On Thu, 22 Jun 2000 12:37:47 -0500, "Greg Cisko" <[email hidden]> wrote:

I beleive it is possible at Michigan and Fontana. If they were to run a current CART car at Indy, you might also get speeds around this, too. -Pav On Thu, 22 Jun 2000, nobody wrote:

On the converted Charlotte track under ICR2 I've run laps of around 250....but that was with the GTP carset..... nobody wrote:

I'd be really suspect of times produced on converted tracks. Most of ICR2 was a fudge...they built the track etc and then spent a good deal of time fiddling with various variables to acheive times that were similar to the real world times...(if my memory serves correctly) -- dave henrie Team Backmarker #55b Dodge Stratus Super Touring Car TPTCC "Bryon Lape" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... > On the converted Charlotte track under ICR2 I've run laps of around > 250....but that was with the GTP carset..... > > nobody wrote: > > > Hi guys... > > > > During the Le Mans race (Go Tom Kristensen), one of the danish > > commentators, claimed that on some tracks in CART you drive with > > AVERAGE lap speeds over 400 km/h (238 mph). > > > > As an average speed this sounds a little fast to me. > > What is the fastest AVERAGE lap speed in CART, and on which track?? > > > > A content Danish guy :-) > > > > Lars Gaarde >
