The subject line should read "nominate your favourite sim" but I've
recently become addicted to GPL, and my mind is quite closed as a
result.
BAFTA awards are the UK equivalent of the Oscars. This year, for the
first time, they've included a catagory for "Interactive
Entertainment".
Here's the decription for the PC Games catagory
>GAMES - PC - New!!!
>The best game designed for the personal computer
>
>This category will reward outstanding PC gameplay. Originality and
>creative implementation, together with technical excellence are
>crucial but enduring and compelling play are essential elements.
Sounds like GPL to me! Nominating / Eurogising GPL would be a nice way
to say thanks for a great game, and for their ongoing support (albeit
unofficial). Visit http://www.bafta.org/bafta/5_ie/5_AWARDS_cat.htm

GPL was released in 1998, and is probably not eligible for those awards.
Like a 1998 movie isn't eligible for this year's Oscar. Especially that
there is tons of other titles that could be nominated.

Release date is irrelevant - the terms explicitly allow for back
titles. I would suggest that while GPL is not new, it is certainly
current.
However, on closer reading of the entry form, it is apparent that it
cannot be nominated by anyone other than the authors.
I doubt they'll bother. Pity, because I haven't ever come across a
more worthy game.
