When I read "barking", I naturally made the association between the process
of rapid deceleration and the characteristic sound of a Formula 1 downshift.

F1 World Grand Prix PC impressions
Andre Warringa praised F1 World Grand Prix's looks and helmet camera after trying it in a store. Others agreed it was a good-looking arcade-style racer, but noted a braking lock-up bug awaiting a patch, and Andre felt F1 2000 was more realistic though F1WGP gave a better sense of speed.

LMAO. something funny happend to me yesterday on GPL. I was practicing the
ring. (just driving thourgh the flugplatzs (i just might have that turn
conqured. :-) Well i decided to go on. And i spun the car. So i went away
frustraited in all. Came back and kept on driving. I was thinking "this doesnt
look like 'The ring And noticed a big descent. On the track. I went over that
and noticed. I WAS DRIVING THE WRONG DIRECTION!!! Arggg. :-)

No, I meant that in real life, where you look depends not only on where the
car is on the track, but also what the car is doing.

Except everything goes wrong when you spin the car.

Yesterday I played F1 World Grand Prix at a local store. My God, how
beautiful that game looks!! Ofcourse not important, but the intro
movie is allready superb. And the game itself looks just stunning.
The usual camera views in-game, lots of them, but one cam position is
really special. It's an in-helmet cam :) You only see a narrow field,
just like you see when you're looking through a helmet.
When you enter a corner, the cam automatically flows to the apex.
I had to drive 2-3 laps to get used to this, but after that it was
wonderfull, imo something that should be implemented in every other
racing sim.
It reminds me of the first flight sim which used a camera-lock to a
locked target, just like a real pilot keeps following his target with
his eyes (it was Falcon 3 if I remember correctly). After that one,
every other flight sim also used this.
I drove a couple of laps around Brazil. I don't know every inch of the
Brazilian track by memory, so I can't comment on the accuracy of the
track, but it felt good to me. What really was good was the banked
parts of the track. The helmet cam rolls to the left and to the right,
you really feel the banking.
Normally I would have bought the game immediately, I buy allmost all
racing sims. But I'm a little short on cash this month so I will wait
a little. I can't comment on the physics, I was so overwhelmed by the
gorgeous graphics and only could drive a couple of laps, that I
couldn't really test everything good enough.
Thinking back, I think the physics don't feel as good as in F1 2000,
but on the whole the driving experience feels great.
I only had a problem with the braking, don't know what was wrong, but
I had to brake much to soon for the corners. I turned the braking help
on, and before every corner the computer braked for me, but it locked
the brakes heavily, spinning me out of every corner!
Probably a setup / brake bias setting wrong.
Oh boy, if GP3 will look as good as this and has a decent physics
model... yummie...

I don't think it's a contender for GP3 as a sim, and not even F12000
but is potentially the best arcade F1 racer around if you take into
consideration the graphics/sound/multiplayer (problems currently)
and the gameplay.
BTW, agreee about the intro FMV, it's great, one of the best I've

Would be arcadish ofcourse like NFSPU, but still fun and *EASY* to

Anybody have a link to a track layout information page perhaps??? I
might just have a go at it. Getting all excited about driving
Zandvoort mirrored. Or perhaps... scaled? ;-)

Hi HJ,
Yes, even though I'm frustrated with the braking problem, I'm glad I
bought the game, as once this is fixed I will resume my "pre-race"
familiarisation sessions using it. (I like to drive the upcoming
circuit before a GP weekend).
Also, it's nice to just jump in the car, floor the throttle and
generaly behave like a hooligan a welcome releif from the
intense level of concentration required for GPL (which I
love, but it just drains me).
MaXX
PS. I just hope enough people buy into it to make it cost
effective for Lankhor to put that extra bit of work into it as
opposed to moving onto the next project. I think it would
have sold heaps more if it had come out before F12000,
even though it wouldn't satisfy the sim guys,

I'm also having more fun with F1WGP at the moment than with F1 2000,
but I wouldn't say that it's simply a lot better than F1 2000.
F1WGP gives me a better feeling of speed, F1 2000 feels much more
realistic.
