GPLRank Nations' Cup - British Isles Challenge...

12 posts by 9 people · 18 Jul 2000 - 21 Jul 2000

Interesting, this. Looking at the Nations' Cup standings, we have: 3rd - Wales - ave -10.075 13th United Kingdom - ave +39.368 15th - Ireland - ave +41.516 16th - Scotland - ave +42.972 23rd - England - ave +62.917 No entries for the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man (whihc aren't part of the UK, so can't go there). Looks like the Welsh separatists are doing well, but the rump English are having a nightmare (Brian). UK doing reasonably (at least I'm helping them now I've improved!). Hungary still lead from Slovenia, and at the bottom only Denmark's average of over +100 keeps the US out of the ignominy of last spot. (Damn. :-) ) -- David. Obviously, artifically worsening your score isn't as bad as artificially improving it, but it's highly unfair on the other Swedes because of the Nations Cup. -- David. The world will be shocked one of these days, Danish GPL'ers are gathering in force and will soon be not last but.... second to last ;) Leaving the mighty US drivers in the dust. Seriously, the first "calling all danish gpl'ers" post in this NG a couple of weeks ago started a lot of things... Danish GPL website, danish online racing every single night for the past weeks ( not bad considering we are 8-10 guys ) and soon the glorious Danish GPL championship.... PS: just checked, and our beloved neighbour Sweden has claimed the last spot thanks to Stefan Bckstedt clocking in with the quite extreme rating of +4436.98... we are victorious :) Mikkel (GPLRank +33.76)

I just had a look at his times. He has a 7:56 for the Ring, a 1:20 for Kyalami which in my experience are very respectable if not downright fast times. At each of the remaining 9 tracks he has a best time of 10:00. Stefan must be the only driver in GPL history to have a faster time at the Ring than at Watkins Glen :) Cheers Phil ---- GPL F1 Handicap: +62.44 GPL F2 Handicap: +149.93 ----------------------------------------------------------- Got questions? Wow! Is there a roller-skating version of GPL we've not been told about. :) -- Peter Ives - (AKA Ivington) No person's opinions can be said to be more correct than another's, because each is the sole judge of his or her own experience.

Stefan Bckstedt has been deleted from GPLRank. What Stefan Bckstedt did was blatantly hack his player.ini to force GPLRank to give him a handicap. Doing this totally disregards the basic concept, and the spirit, of the GPLRank benchmark, which is that it's a rating of your OVERALL mastery of gpl. His actions also completely disrepect another important part of GPLRank, that it is based on the honor system, on the honestly and integrity of the gpl community, that people will ONLY edit their player.ini to DELETE clock smashed times from online racing. -- Don Scurlock Vancouver,B.C.
