Time to start looking at upgrades, current HP PIII 600
will only go up to a 700. I would like a motherboard that
would run from the 600 up to 1gig hz.
So far the current machine with the new V5 5500 in it still seems to run
pretty good, just worried it will not be able
to handle GP3, Nascar Heat, and most of all Nascar 4.
Thanks

Any word on how the i815 chipset boards are doing against the
BX133's/VIA's?
We already know they're better than 820's ;)...
Has ABit released an i815 board yet? I'm considering selling my BE6-II
to get something with a 1/2 divider.
TIA!

Before you buy.
Do you plan to overclock the CPU? If not, a BX chipset motherboard should do fine (Asus
P3B-F, Abit BE6-2, and MSI BXMaster). These are more stable boards and known to perform
very well. If you do overclock your CPU and planning to use 133 MHz Bus Frequency, you
better get a VIA133a chipset motherboards (Asus P3V4X, Soyo 6VCA or 7VCA). There are
more VIA133a chipset boards if you are planning to use a fc-pga coppermine. A slot 1
coppermine? Not much choice. P3V4X or Soyo 6VCA. Of course, since you have a HP
system, getting a new motherboard would most likely require you to change your case. You
need a new case too. BTW, the V5 is known to have troubles running at too high of the
AGP Bus speed. If you overclock your CPU, you better get a VIA133a chipset board since
it has 1/2 AGP clock divider. The BX chipset does not have it.

ASUS CUBX / CUV4X or ABIT BE6-2 / BF6
Either of them should be a good choice, al depending on what your after,
if you're an overclocker, the ABIT boards seems to have an edge over the
ASUS boards, but the ASUS boards are usually one of the best when it
comes to build quality and stability, take your pick....
Beers and cheers
