Leaked Grand Prix 3 video clips impress readers

Simon Brown linked to a set of short GP3 video clips, apparently from a German TV feature, which needed the DivX codec. Viewers were especially impressed by the wet-weather footage, while others noted the driver seemed to use steering help and a Microsoft force-feedback wheel with the effect off. Some had trouble downloading or playing the files.

Why do it difficult when it can be so simple: there is a new "help" icon on the steeringwheel (the one located most to the right side) which refers to steeringhelp. "Sweet" is all I can say when I watch the movies of the wet race. Time will tell what the frame rates are like, the multiplayer, yadda yadda, but on visuals alone, I'm sold. The graphics aren't overdone, like some recent F1 games, but not as stark as GPL. Those must be the nicest looking front wheels in any sim. I can't get all upset about the armless wheel, because I am too busy trying to pick my jaw up from seeing the wet track. The reflecting puddles in RC2000 were a step in the right direction, but this has "atmosphere" in bucketloads (those would be the buckets that were previously full of rain). Some of the screenshots showing a drying line leave me feeling very good about getting into some serious strategical races (shades of Donnington '93). The independantly locking front wheels are a good sign as well. Spray off the front and back wheels. Wee-haa. Sign me up. It's only 50 bucks, after all. Stephen

Ok, you've been waiting to see something geuinely jaw-dopping from GP3? Well, it's just arrived. Go to http://www.geocities.com/ose75orxy/ and download some of those short movies. They are simply stunning. You'll need an avi compression codec to view them, which you can get from http://divx.ctw.cc (700k). The movies are apparently captures from German tv, which got hold of a final copy today. These movies restore my faith in GP3... Try the first one in the list, it shows an extremely convincing wet track. A big thanks to Schorle for capturing and uploading them.

Yeah, I don't know what that's about but it's nothing to do with me. I just tried the page again and got re-directed a few times before the proper page came up correctly. It might have been because geocities has been down. The movies are definitely there, and they are definitely from GP3. :) Try this direct link instead http://www.geocities.com/ose75orxy/GP3_13.avi , that should work. And heres the rest (0.5 - 2 MB in size)- http://www.geocities.com/ose75orxy/GP3_14.avi http://www.geocities.com/ose75orxy/GP3_17.avi http://www.geocities.com/ose75orxy/GP3_21.avi http://www.geocities.com/ose75orxy/GP3_22.avi http://www.geocities.com/ose75orxy/GP3_25.avi http://www.geocities.com/ose75orxy/GP3_26.avi http://www.geocities.com/ose75orxy/GP3_27.avi http://www.geocities.com/ose75orxy/GP3_28.avi http://www.geocities.com/ose75orxy/GP3_29.avi I haven't seen them all yet but the wet weather movies are extremely impressive. Again, thanks to Schorle.

Sorry about the multiple posts on this subject, but make sure you right-click and "save-as", just left clicking will launch Windows Media Player and attempt to stream the files in real time, which most likely won't be fast enough.
