Flame warPoster shares GP3 warez links and is condemned

A poster shared download links to a pirated copy of GP3 and was strongly condemned, replying with obscene abuse. Others debated whether reviews based on warez copies could be trusted, with Bruce Kennewell saying he would only heed buyers' opinions.

In order to download warez, do you have to take a test and prove that you are illiterate? It seems that all the proponents of this sleazy behavior fit that description. Just curious. Not that I support Warez, but some of us have already paid the full price for the game and are just waiting for it to come in. Well, I figured I would do 1 of 2 things. Either buy it when it hits the shelves to support it, or wait a few days and see reports on this newsgroup, reports of the final release that people pay for or by official reviewers. -- Don Burnette Dburn in N3 and Legends ICQ# 74084566 "Greg Cisko" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:IPie5.1145$9%[email hidden]... > "Don Burnette" <[email hidden]> wrote in message > news:ra8e5.66424$[email hidden]... > > Crook. > > I agree. Personally, whether I trust someone's judgement does not ride on how they aquired the software. If you honestly believe I would lie about how I experienced the game just because I did not legally own it (BTW: I dare you to come find even one remaining byte of that installation on my PC), I will very much take offence indeed. Yes, you will get a far more balanced opinion from someone who has paid for GP3 then someone who has the cheek to complain about something he stole. My retort was a general comment aimed at those who HAVE a warez copy on their HDD. I really don't give a damn whether they intend to delete it or not; the mere fact that it is sitting on their hard drive means that it's been picked out of the gutter. -- Regards, Bruce Kennewell, Canberra, Australia. --------------------------- Jan Verschueren <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... > Personally, whether I trust someone's judgement does not ride on how they > aquired the software. > > If you honestly believe I would lie about how I experienced the game just > because I did not legally own it (BTW: I dare you to come find even one > remaining byte of that installation on my PC), I will very much take offence > indeed. > > Jan. > =--- > Bruce Kennewell wrote... > > I shall be more prone to heed the comments of somebody who has forked out > > $$$ for their copy of GP3 than to listen to those who picked it out of the > > gutter. > > -- > > Regards, > > Bruce Kennewell, > > Canberra, Australia. > > --------------------------- > > <snip> > >

Bruce, first let me state that I have NO warez on my HD, and never have. I'll admit to a few bits of unregistered shareware. Now then, I once found a $100 bill in the gutter. It spent just as well and any other money from any other source. Now, if I review a book my opinion of it is not colored by whether I got it from the library, stole it from a bookstore shelf, or. . . found it in the gutter. The only way of obtaining it that might effect my opinion is having PAYED for it. That ruins a certain amount of objectivity. I may find it a good read *for free.* Or perhaps I find it bad, in which case having payed for it would make feel WORSE about it. I have a certain distaste for warez, but your argument against it here is a bit emotional and flawed. I might also point out that your joke post on the release of the beta warez might have been more true than you think. If warez didn't already exist the software companies would be compelled to invent it. Many of the warez items out there ARE intentionally released by the marketing division of the company.
