Ok, this game to me looks killer and I'm very excited to fire this one
up but I have a couple of questions about the game. If they have been
answered before my apologies.
First of all the cars getting airborne look spectacular but it appears,
to me at least, that cars are flipping over awfully easily in some of
the screenshots. Maybe the gaming mode was in arcade when the pics were
made. I love the idea of being able to get upside down and roll over but
I would like it to be realistic. Like if I was in the middle of the pack
at Dega coming down the backstretch and check up and get a bump from a
car behind me sending me spinning through the grass I expect, by my
speed for my car to either just slide, get a little airborne and come
back down or to get completely Rusty fricking Wallace upside down. I
want to be able to see flips and be able to flip but I for one would
rather have it realistic. So I guess I'm asking if the flipping model
will be accurately portrayed in the "expert" mode of the game at least.
Ok now I also know that Daytona is included in the game so will the
qualifying for the Daytona 500 be as it is in real life? Will we qualify
and then have the Twin 125's? Its not a big deal either way but it would
be very cool if the Twins were portrayed in the game.
Also I've heard that the AI will be very tough and true to life in the
game. So will the AI actually "race" each other now as well as you? And
when you nail an AI car in the rear and they lose it will they be able
to save it or will it be like N3 and they slide helplessly into the
wall? And will the AI occasionally make mistakes and crash themselves?
In NH how will the damage be done? If there is a big pileup at Texas and
12-14 cars are crumpled up will cars sit on pit road to be repaired or
will you go to the garage? Since their is an animated pit crew will you
see them actually "working" on the damaged car? I'm not a nitpicker or
anything I'm just curious as to some of the things in the game and how
they will work. The game looks great and I can't wait to get a chance to
try it out.
Lastly I have a PII 350 system with a Voodoo 2 right now and I'm pretty
sure I'm going to upgrade machines for the next generation of great
racing games including NH, N4, Sprints, and others. I'm leaning towards
a AMD Athlon 700-750 with a GeForce 64 graphics card. Does this seem
like a wise choice to make? Its a costly one but will be well worth it
to see the great graphics of these games.
Any comments and answers will be very welcome. Thanks in advance.

I think you'll find the physics model very realistic in Expert Mode, a bit
bit exhagerated in Normal Mode. In a lot of the screen shots posted so far
(FYI, none of those came from Hasbro - everyone has been doing their own), I
think you're seeing a little bit of "kid in the candy store" behavior. They
got a NASCAR game that really has 3D physics... what do you want to try out
first/most? :-)

We don't model the twin 125's in Heat - it's standard qualifying.

The AI is Heat absolutely races you and each other. They also react very
real when they get hit. they are subject to essentially the same physics
model as the human-controlled car(s).
We didn't model the garage, so they will pit. As for the animated pit crew,
you'll only see your own. With the potential for 43 cars each with 7 guys
over the wall, we just can't push that many polygons yet. :-)
Sounds like a winner to me. I've got a geForce 2 on a P700 and with
everything cranked all the way up in 1280x1024 mode, I'm hitting 42-44FPS.
If I crank down the car detail 1 notch, it jumps to over 50FPS.

Who said N4 based on the previous titles would be a better game??? Do they
mean previous NASCAR games (N2/3...) - hope not!
Oh, about the flipping...well, maybe we don't see it in NASCAR a lot is
because professional drivers are handling these beasts....perhaps you and I
would not be so lucky. Ive didn't find it too hard to roll a car and that
was just a normal street car. I'd hate to see where Id end up in a real life
NASCAR so Ill stick to games
