Flame warUK buyer reports early GP3 sales to Hasbro

Lee Armstrong said he had reported shops selling GP3 early to Hasbro while also asking where he could buy a copy early, which drew mockery for hypocrisy. A WHSmith in Farnborough reportedly then refused to sell it until the release date. Greg Cisko's taunts led to an extended argument with Tony Whitley and Glen Priest.

What a classic case of sour grapes. Just cos some were lucky enough to get it a day or two earlier than you, you have a petty tantrum, jump up and down and tell "mummy" I really can't believe you would have reported anyone if you had managed to get your hands on it early? It hardly a big deal anyway....... now go pick up those toys that are scatrtered around your pram Marc Lee Armstrong <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:g%Wf5.348$[email hidden]...

I've just received this from a colleague who works in Farnborough. "I went to W.H.Smith Farnborough. I shook the box and the CD is in there but they would not sell it until tomorrow ! I'm confused, Lee. You want yours NOW (in advance of the official release date), but you're "ratting out" retailers who are selling it now because they're not close enough to you, and therefore it's incovenient for you? What the hell kind of logic is that? Kurt Lee Armstrong wrote in message ...

It is kinda wrong to do this though. When you release a highly awaited sim a day or two early it makes everyone rush to your store adn buy the game leaving the law abiding stores with a confusing look as they open the doors the next morning to find nobody there.

Oh, Cisco, let it rest, won't you?? Here you are up to your mean-spirited tricks again!! I think the guy has every right to be a bit irritated when some of the shops are breaking the rules and selling early. I haven't waited for this game with the same urgency that some have, but I can understand the frustration in knowing it is available in some of shops but NOT the one in my own neighborhood, the owners of which are playing by the rules. I agree that all customers should be treated the same and have the same opportunities for purchase, and that the shops selling early are surely doing it for the single purpose of taking unfair advantage and getting a larger market share over their competitors who are following Hasbro's release schedule. Would you be so relaxed and unconcerned on a real world racing week-end if tire suppliers, for example, jumped the release date for a killer tire compound, allowing your competetion a couple of days early testing and tweaking but not letting YOU have them until the official release? This is an imperfect comparison, but an official release date is either THAT or it isn't, and it is NOT a nose in your neighbor's business (A rather more polite version of your typically rude summary) to want the same treatment. You have a "better half", do you? Do you treat her nicely? Hmmmm? Or maybe it's just that you save your rancour and irritability for the poor saps on this NG, and at home you are the personification of domestic, tranquil gentility. We're all hoping so. WOW! It is amazing to me how you guys are so quick to dump on this guy for being irritated over stores selling the danged game early, and all the smart-butt comments to HIM over this timing blip suggest to me that none of you people are so easy-going and laid back about ANYTHING!! You kidding me? You wouldn't give a rip if you were as nonchalant about all this as you seem to think HE should be, nor would would you be bothering to respond!! COME ON!! ! Either it is a slow few hours on RAS or else * somebody * is really getting seriously anal. Dang, Eldred! I usually read your stuff with great interest and enjoyment and find it funny and also informative. You aren't taking Ciskco lessons, are you? :-)) (Hey, I didn't misspell his name, did I? I'd go back and check, but I'd lose the danged message for sure!) PS. And another thing; I am Seriously OLD (I MUST be the oldest poster to the RAS; I know, I know...definitely not the wisest) so I got the right to point out nasty-temperedness and spewing insults from-the-hip when I sees 'em coming from all you young bucks! Since you didn't quote anything, I don't know which of my comments you're referring to. If I remember correctly, I said something like "What's the big deal? So, you get it tomorrow... Your life won't end." If you consider that 'anal' then so be it. I see nothing wrong with what I said, and I wouldn't even be ashamed if my *mom* read it. I don't see why it's so critical - "I want the game NOW!". Sheesh... If waiting ONE day for a *game* brings that much sadness to someone's life, then they need help... Oh, well, Eldred; maybe I was too quick to respond, and overstated. If I mis-read you, I apologize. I can't remember what you wrote word-for-word either, (and I'd probably loose this message to try to find it! :-)) ) but it just seemed at the time to me to be a personal attack rather than some friendly hazing. There has just been so MUCH bad tempered sniping on the NG in the last two weeks, it seemed to me that it just isn't as much fun as it used to be. I wish everyone could enjoy posting and "riposting" (!) but drop the belligerant, in-your-face tone so many recent messages have had. Surely people want their stuff read or why bother posting, but when it is this kind of relentless irritability who the crap enjoys that? Are we more interested in who can write the nastiest sarcasm, or how we can get more fun out of sim racing? Well, again, sorry if I mis-interpreted. I tried to respond to your comments last night, and I'm finding the danged messages I'm typing are not getting out. Sorry if I jumped the gun on your response to the guy who had to wait to pick up his copy of GP-3. It seemed to me his frustration after waiting years was understandable, but it seemed he was mostly dumped on. If I mis-read your intent, please accept my apology. At the time I thought he should wait 2 little days for the game. Why? You want to discuss how cool GP3 is or something? I would be most happy to participate :-) I frankly never expected to see you here again. -- [email hidden]
