I just ordered it from infront.co.uk. The total cost was 23 pounds with shipping to Switzerland, and the US shipping rates weren't much more. It will come out about even with the cost of the German version in my local shop once I pay the Swiss VAT (on top of the British VAT that is rolled into the price... all the Brits can now thanks me for generously supporting your health care system) so I'm happy. To the US with shipping your final price would be less than 40 USD. I bought it sight unseen based on: (1) still like GP2 (2) need something to do on the train to work (3) need a break from GPL Stephen

phew....that was a rant - but definitely worth ranting about! HOWEVER, have either of you run the frame rate patch? it completely wrecks multiplayer....restore your f1gamestate.sav (or whatever you call it) and retry. Also try to get your PO down a little bit further, if you get it running in the race at under 100% it will be great, turning off the detail in the mirrors did the trick for me......27% in a single player race and about 37% in a multi (2 player is all i have tested), with 800*600 and a 850 Celeron + voodoo 3. My brother plays fairly well on a k62-450 too. Hope this helps a bit... Geoff is playing the 3-axis, h/w-accelerated version at his home, in his Hyperstim, and keeping the new .C code for next year's GP4. :) This was just the gfx_crap.c and gfx_old_shitty_software_why_bother_obsolete.c update we've received. He's done ABSOLUTELY nothing to make the driving model better. In fact, I had 3-axis working in GP2 a while ago. :(( Ruud van Gaal, GPL Rank +53.53 MarketGraph / MachTech: http://www.marketgraph.nl Art: http://www.marketgraph.nl/gallery

While GP3 is quite a nice game and I like it , I tried LAN play today with a friend and I must report that it's not very good. Bothe machines we ran it on were fast enough computers for the game and in single play we are both running at about 40-70% PO once the first computer cars have finished there little dance at the first corners of the tracks. Anyway connection was easy enough we used TCP/IP on our home lan we are running a dedicated 100 m/bits network and both machine are configured for LAN play. I hosted a full race at Monza with computer cars first and we started a Friday free practice session, well this is when things turned to CRAP, on both macines PO went up to 130-150% all the way around the track and just never went down it was like driveing in molasse, we followed each other around the track and while it looked great and we thought it was better than F1 2000 M/P it just started to piss us off that we couldnt get the PO down. Anyway next time around I went into the pits to alter my wings and when I selected to enter the workshop ascreen popped up on the other machine that a PAUSE request was sent and the other machine had to pause the game for me to enter the pits workshop, now is this F@#king stupid or what, then when I came out of the workshop we had to unpause the game and the other machine could carry on driveing. We then tried the game with just the 2 players cars in a race (NO AI cars at all) well same thing PO was up at 130-140 on both machines in the end we gave up and went back to Nascar 3, SPCGT & F1 2000 Micropose say in the read me that GP# should support 6 and could support maybe 22, I would love to see this it would need a CRAY to run it and as for the network speed I dont think its been invented yet. To me this is the biggest dissapointment for me from GP3, the game started to grow on me but I really think GC has just F@#ked this game up so much with his crap M/P and also his CRAP joystick setups. The guy need a big kick up the arse he really does. BTW we tried IPX too and couldnt get it to connect. Also sorry for the rant. Hotdog

Actually it's been out in NZ since Wednesday... (AND we're 12 odd hours ahead of the UK :-) ) But then I'm still deciding whether to get it and it's a TOUGH call given the flack flying here and on simracingnews' forums. Dave

CC rrevved, it is I brought my offical copy today. BTW I also got IPX lan play working an its still as bad, there is a something strange going on though in this damm game, We did some more testing while we were hooked up and in GP3 there is a option to host a M/P game with more than 2 players, we picked this under IPX and was taken to a screen where you can chat to the players connected, then we carried on and into the game, this option took us straight into a race with out any testing or Qual periods and we started at the front of the grid with 20 other cars behind us, PO was at 120% on both machines, we started to race expecting it to be the same as I have reported before, but to our suprise PO came down to about 100 around most of Monza and even down to 70% on my machine. Im stuffed if I can see what the freakin diffrence is between this and the other M/P modes of play except you cant run a full race session with all the Friday/Saturday set up days the more than 2 players is straight to a race only, its just damm weired it runs smooth one way and not the other. Also I forgot to put the specs of the machines we ran the game on Host Computer Celeron 566 O/C to 925 128 meg SDRAM V3 3000 98% resource free on start of GP3 (I turned my gaphics down from 1024x768 to 640x480 to host the game) Client computer Celeron 366 O/C to 458 128 meg SDRAM V2 12 meg. Im at a big lan session tommorw and I have the wearz version too and in going to try more than 2 players. Hotdog

Hmm yes I have done the FPS patch on my machine (P566 @ 925) but not the other, il reinstall it and try again at the lan session.
