Great! But what if he doesnt want combined axis? For suer, I dont want to, I
hate going through the hassel of going to the joystick-properties and change
my input device everytime I switch from GPL to GP3.....

GP3 split-axis controller bug and promised patch
Users with Hyperstimulator, TSW and other split-axis pedals could not calibrate them in GP3, and one reported that Hasbro had called it a bug that would be patched. Posters questioned the beta testing, though Greg Cisko and Lorne Glustein noted testers' reports are often ignored. Others observed GP3 kept GP2's DOS-style controller and menu systems.

My TSW for whatever reason seem,s to be split axis only, I have tried many
times to change it, but to no avail. So until the patch arrives I cant
really play this game as neither of my wheels will calibrate. Shame.

That a bit harsh, just use combined axis, its better than acting the martyr

This isn't true at all and you damn well know it. I have been a
beta tester for several games. They report bugs and stuff.
But something like this is not a bug, but rather a design feature.
There is also no guarantee the programmer will fix *ANY*
bugs that might get reported. So blaming the beta testers
is totally uncool as far as I am concerned.

You should have gotten an adapter that allows you to run in single-axis mode.
Contact Thomas Enterprises, and I'm sure they can help you.

Good point Greg. I know for a fact that 50+% of the bugs and missing

Yeah... We will have to see how the napster music thing goes.
Apparently it is OK to put copywrited music on the internet for
download as long as no one makes any money. I suspect that
software will be next :-) I see absolutely no difference between
the 2.

Doesn't seem much different than the radio to me. So they wanna hear
some music while they surf? Screw them millionaire musicians. They
don't need every penny of every kid's allowance... If that's the only
reason they got into the trade, let them get REAL jobs!

How do you know it's a design feature and not a bug?... it really sounds

That's right. Anyone can say, 'Oh yes, we are aware of this and are
going to fix it.' At least then that stops the complaints coming in. I
just have a bad feeling that you won't see a patch for this for some
time. Chances are that no split axis was because GC was not really sure
how to implement it well enough (as to how it should make the car
behave) and so just left it out.

No person's opinions can be said to be
more correct than another's, because each is

Nonsense. Split axis works fine in GP2. The settings in GP3 allow for it.
Only the calibration routine fails. Which is a bad thing of course :(

Looks like to me like the control setup is the same as it was for GP2. If
you have a wheel that shows its third axis as being on Joystick B (Like my
TM Sprint used to) then there's no problem.
New wheels don't work like that though. You think they might have noticed.
Looks like a hang over from a DOS game.

replicated in Windows.
No apparent attempt has been made to interface with the controller info in
Windows. Similarly the menu system has been transferred across with no
attempt to build a more Windows friendly style interface.
I just find it odd that a developer wouldn't want to revamp the look & feel
in a new release, particularly in a dos to windows conversion.
Perhaps we should be grateful the time is spent on the game itself rather
than a snazzy interface, but the controller issue is bizzare, my split axis
controller is over 2 years old!

One exception is the Windows-like Minimize button which works great imo.
Minimize GP3, do something in Windows, then activate GP3 again from the task
bar.
