its a bug in the code that doesnt allow mutliple axis yet....its the same basic control code as GP2 which supports 4 axis... a patch is comming.... pez Michael Young wrote in message ... >Regardless of how it drives or doesn't, the game would be unplayable for me >without split-axis and FF on Win2K. Regardless of how it drives or doesn't, the game would be unplayable for me without split-axis and FF on Win2K. So, is it true that GP3 does not support split axis? Also, how does the FF compare to GPL's? Thanks. Michael.

GP3 FF delivers the feel of the tires loosing traction, and the feel of weight transfer to some extent. You can feel a bump as you drive onto or off of a kerb, but you don't get any vibration while you are on the kerb. I like to have that vibration that other sims provide. I think GP3 and F1 2000 are about equal, though they feel quite a bit different. I think GP3 feels more like Viper Racing than anything else. What GP3 FF needs is more damping effect. You can easily create pilot-induced oscillations while driving down a straight. -- Pat Dotson

Can you feel the tires loosen up in the turns as you reach your grip limit? That would be far better than feeling curbs. F1 2000 has decent FF by comparison with my LWFF. The trick is to turn on centering spring in FF games and set it to 50%. This is the only game which needs that setting and is somewhat of a hassle. But I do like the feel. You get good curbs, grass, sand, all bumps and an occasional grip limit thing I asked about above. You also do get a somewhat weighty feel with the spring centering so over all the effect is still below GPL, but better than SCGT, CPR (when I tried it) and F1RS/MGPRS2 and Nascar3. -- [email hidden]

Must be the wheel (no offense but I tested the MSFF and wasn't impressed: sloppy, notchy and very "plastic"). FF is very good on my LWFF. I can feel the rear loosen when I spin the tires in the rain. And the sound of the rear wheels hydroplaning is great auditory feedback. The wheel is very tight around turns until I push just a bit too far then I feel the loose end snapping around. I can feel the limits with my wheel. I've saved several near spin thanks to the FF. BTW, for those who think the spins are canned, they are not. Your FPS is just too low to allow you to properly respond and save the spin. I learned this from playing SCGT with my old P 450 and my new PIII 600e. Suddenly I was able to catch spins in SCGT and they didn't feel all that canned after all. I know there are many jokes to be made about my use of "loose end", so let's just relax and be adults ;-). -- Joe Marques Please remove "NO SPAM" to e-mail me. It's true, sadly. The FF is very poor. No curb vibrations, intermittent pulling to the left with Microsoft wheel and just generally rubbish. From what I can tell, the only real forces you get are when you are cornering. Even these are pretty strange, though. It could well be an issue with Microsoft wheels only, but I doubt it. The steering feels too loose, not at all realistic.

You can also feel the weight of the car pulling the wheel in corners, and use it as a cue for when you are turning too fast (i.e., it pulls veryhard before oversteer). I find the FF implementation quite good, it's up there in Viper Racing quality. That is, not as good as GPL, but much better than most games. Useful FF, not gimicky collision effects. >You also do get a somewhat weighty feel with the spring >centering so over all the effect is still below GPL, but >better than SCGT, CPR (when I tried it) and F1RS/MGPRS2 >and Nascar3. Sounds quite similar to GP3. Joe McGinn _____________________ Radical Entertainment

Hey rrevved, how do you like the Force RS? I just hate the LWFF pedals and while I use my TSW2 pedals in some games it doesn't work for many other games. I've heard the RS pedals, while much stiffer than my LWFF, have a notchy feel and aren't very precise. I guess the ultimate question is: Can you brake smoothly in GPL using your Force RS? It'd be an added bonus to use the Force RS (without FF) if I ever pick up a PS2 and play GT2000. BTW, how is the non-FF performance, smooth or notchy? I'm also interested in the RS Shifter for games like NFSPU and Nascar Heat or Nascar 4. Do you own the shifter? If so, how do you like it? Thanks in advance. -- Joe Marques Please remove "NO SPAM" to e-mail me. It must be my wheel, then. It works perfectly with every other game so do you think Mr. Crammond may have messed up ??

So what does "realistic" F1 steering feel like? All of these GP3 post about realism or lack of,makes me wonder what people are basing their opinions on....... Dave

With how much of the eye-candy turned off? I'm afraid that to get an acceptable frame rate, I'll have to turn off graphics that I need for markers, etc. What kind of system do you have, and if you run GPL or F1 2K, what are your frame rates? Maybe I can get a comparison there... Eldred -- Tiger Stadium R.I.P. 1912-1999 Homepage - http://www.umich.edu/~epickett GPL hcp. +60.31 Never argue with an idiot. Thanks for the info. I too have a spiking pedal pot on my TSW2. The overall hardware is great but the pots are pretty weak. I'm too lazy to swap it out as well so I stay away from GPL in the interim ;-). -- Joe Marques Please remove "NO SPAM" to e-mail me. Runs pretty well on my P2 333 @ 375 , 128MB RAM and TNT2. 800 X 600 at 21 fps. Even better on an Athlon 750 though, 42 fps at 1024 X 768 :) -- Ian Parker "Ambition is a poor excuse for not having sense enough to be lazy." <email invalid due to spam> rrevved <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... > On 30 Jul 2000 04:20:16 GMT, [email hidden] (EldredP) wrote: > > >In article <gaCg5.91297$[email hidden]>, "Joe Marques" > ><Joe"NO_SPAM"[email hidden]> writes: > > > >>BTW, for those who think the spins are canned, they are not.
