It'll be 2002 before we see a GP 2.x involving this year. But hey, I still LOVE GP3 DOug

Does anyone believe there will be a GP4 in our lifetimes? In article <[email hidden]>, [email hidden] (Skeeter) wrote:

Could we really hope for so much? My heart races at the mere thought of such fantastic advancements in simulation technology! In article <f6Wg5.78203$[email hidden]>, "Don Burnette" <[email hidden]> wrote:

Could it be that they let this upgrade to GP2 out for the same reasons that Papy let out N3???Make some money on GP3 and then six months down the line when GP4 comes out we could get the physics model that everyone was expecting.Papy did it with N3 and gave the reason---hardware not up to it.Hey its just more money for them since we all know that many people purchased N3(even though it was a cosmetic enhancment)and many people will buy N4.What if GP3's graphics were purposely cut back for the sole purpose of a big advancement when GP4 arrives.I saw pics of GP3 a month before the warez hit R.A.S and it looked phenomeno!!I heard that they were doing a major sound upgrade with them going to the races for real samples.Could it be that when they announced that there will be many upgrades to the GP line that they meant that in a yrs time the real GP3 will have arrived????? Who knows what GP4 has in store for us.Now I hope this doesnt get everyone back on the GC wagan again but this could happen. PS:sorry if I am wrong and have gotten everyones hopes up.

Maybe, but N4 is coming out almost a year and half after N3, and they are using GPL's engine. GP4 is coming out in less than 6 months. Just think if it is just season update with a few bug fixes. After seeing the release of GP3, if I ran Papy, I would see this as a huge opportunity. "Don Burnette" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:f6Wg5.78203$[email hidden]...

The real problem with that scenario is.... Papyrus had a working engine to use(GPL) Papyrus had spent most of the previous year working on N4 Papyrus also had the fallback engine(N3) now....has any word leaked out about Crammond writing NEW Code? Has any word of a new engine been seen? has a working product already been finished(a la GPL) that could demonstrate the advances? The answers are all no. Do you really think they could start from scratch and finish a product in 6 months? You'll get season updates and probably some improvements in the multiplayer code, but GP4 most likely will be GP2.75 -- dave henrie Free the ICR2 source code! What I was trying to say is that maybe GC actually has been working for the past four yrs on new code. That GP3 was a way to just rake in some extra mulla. The reason I thought about this is the fact that they were seen doing sound recordings in Williams pit and the fact that some of the pics that were distributed before were getting rave reviews. Then they release this shit.

Who can say....anything is possible. That's the great thing about the software industry. Developers are continually pushing the envelope, adding new, revelutionary features to every subsequent sequel. Man! My head is just spinning thinking about all that could be in GP4, to say nothing of GP5!!

Then wouldn't that strategy be counterproductive? Either A) the market is saturated, and people who already have GP3 won't buy another F1 sim, or B) the people who bought GP3, and are *pissed* about it, will have lost all faith in G. Crammond... Granted, some people *do* like GP3, but I'd think those numbers are much smaller than the other two groups...
