GP3 doesnt need third party accesories to make it a reasonable game
the only reason why f12000 is now a "good" game is because of all the
patches that people made for it to make it reasonable
reading all the posts here when it first came out, everyone said how
shit it was, i mean crashes on the parade lap come on!!!! how often
does that happen?? once every two years and in extremely wet
conditions.
major first lap carnage as well
all this got fixed by patches, therefore made it a reasonable game
the only thing wrong with GP3 is that its the 98 season and not the
current.
Therefore GP3 is/was a better out of the box game than F12000

No. That's a matter of fact.
Yes, this is a matter of opinion.

By using this logic one would conclude that Falcon4.0 totally blows.
It does not and is the premier flightsim for the PC. All possible because
of 3rd party efforts. While I won't say the same for F1 2000's 3rd
party efforts because I haven't found a need to use them, I just
think you shouldn't immediately dismiss it.
Has it occoured to you that GP2 works so well out of the box
because so little has changed? I totally expect to to run like
the wind on a P3-600.

I agree, games should be judged in their original release condition, not
after every single feature has been improved by 3d party patches. And GP3
hold together better as an overall product out of the box.
Just one thing though, try deselecting your driver in GP3 so you can just
watch the AI cars race, and see how many times out of 5 all the AI cars get
safely around the first turn at Spa without causing a pile-up.

By the way, you can make a better judgement as
to what has and hasn't changed in GP3 when you've played it. A lot of the
comment here about GP3 is extremely exaggerated. And that's on both sides.
People saying it's complete shite, other people saying it's the best game
ever. They're both wrong, it's obviously somewhere in between. And when
people say nothing has changed, again they are exaggerating.
I would agree that enough of the important things haven't changed enough and
that overall the game is dissapointing by the way.
I have tried to like F1 2000, I gave it a good 10 hours play to make sure I
wasn't jumping to conclusions. It just didn't light my candle though.

Do I have to play GP3 to confirm that SloMo
is still part of the game? Or lack of AI computer sounds? Or
pit chatter, or total shit online play?
Further is it really necessary to play it to realize it is pretty much
still GP2?

Now if I didn't know have internet access and know about RAS and sites that
discuss add-ons and patches then I would be bothered about this. However, to
be posting this I do - so I just care about what is the best racing sim
experience I can get now - regardless of what that sim was like on day one.
I am all for evolution - official or not

Yes, this is a matter of opinion.
Or for absolute annoyance the classic
"You can do better than that".
And for Greg
' Further is it really necessary to play it to realize it is pretty
much
>> still GP2?'
Yes It is because it isn't the same game it has some of the same
quirks but the good way exceeds the bad.

Shit on-line play only matters if you plan to play the game online. I
don't.
Slowmo only matters if you plan to enter a hotlaps competition. I don't.
The no AI engine sounds thing I have no argument against, it does indeed
suck.
And pit-car radio would have improved the game for sure.
On that point, I seem to remember in F1 2000 running in first place and
being told by my pit-crew that someone running 15 places behind me was out
of the race, which is pretty dumb. Plus I remember the pit crew tell you
everytime someone hits you who it was. Like you would care, or like they
would even know.
