I've played the Touring Car patches for the NASCAR games, but is there
a good Touring Car sim out there? Perhaps one in Eurpoe that we
didn't get word of in the US?

TOCA 2 based on the British Touring Car Championship, not a true sim,
but good enough, and some very close racing can be had, especially on
expert level. Handling is ok. Graphics are good. Sound is ok too.
Mulitplay is good, via LAN or Wireplay (www.Gameplay.com).

Toca2 by Codemasters should be right up your alley. Simulates the British
Touring Car Championship and it's support races. Very enjoyable.

Toca 2 which is called Touring Car Challenge here in the States...Models the
2.0 litre super tourers from 1999 or 98...I forget which...Not the greatest
sim
but a fun racer.....lap speed unfortunately are tied to Frames per second.
So if you turn everything off graphics wise, you will get better lap
times...a pity..

TOCA2 and Sweedish Touring Car Championship. Both arcade games. Neither worth a
damn if you want something that matches GPL standards.

TOCA touring car is a good one, graphics are crap, but its the nearest thing
we have in Europe to a decent Touring Car game - there is a sequel - TOCA2,
but I havent got that, so I dont know what its like

seriously though....what about Sports Car GT - doesn't the GT stand for
Grand Touring? That is a better sim that TOCA and there are lots of add ons
to make it even better.

Congratulations for being the first person in this thread to point out
that (your sim here) is not as good as gpl. Yawn.
Give it a chance, Toca2 was an entertaining sim.

If you didn't know, "Touring Car" is a racing series, held in a few
countries
there is the BTCC, australian touring car, german, italian touring car (and
probably a few more nations do them as well) People like Dario Franchitti
used to race in the DTM (German touring car), Gabriele Tarquini, Frank
Biela,
many, many more - even the great Nigel Mansell has raced in touring car.
- they are basically like the old thunder saloons, and Sports Car GT isnt
in this
class, unfortunatly there isnt much support for the Touring Cars in racing
sims
apart from add-on patches for the Nascar games,
TOCA and TOCA2 are the only one's I've seen, and I own TOCA, its lame
by racing sim standards - physics and graphics are crap, but the game is
OK, its still pretty hard, and some good fun too...
Just thought I'd clear that up,

I like TOCA2 a lot. I think it has very nice physics and graphics, and a lot
of different game modes. There are races, championship, position and time
"challenge" modes with a progression of more demanding events, support car
races with progressively higher end cars (Ford Escorts, Von Diemen formulas,
sports cars, prototypes...) you have to earn, classic british tracks, and an
interesting test track complex.
The AI is great, and it tends to generate very fun and competetive race
events. Damage modelling is nice, and you can fight the other cars hitting
them, but you get a penalty if you hit them too rough.
I am not an expert in touring car physics, but in the game they are
definitely not arcadish. Car control is very precise and challenging, yet
manageable, whether it is realistically accurate or not. Works great with a
keyboard only, two, and does not require a high end machine (I have
200MHz/32MB/Voodoo 1, which is not perfectly smooth and beautiful but quite
enjoyable).

Yeah, Dick Johnson's V8 Racing...................
<climbs back onto the chair still laughing>
Try the TOCA series, they're pretty good, and if you're not too picky,
the STCC game, I hesitate to call it a sim, has some very nice track,
including the Arctic Circle Raceway
Beers and cheers

Who cares about TOCA2, SCGT does a much better job at simulating just about
anything with four wheels and bumbers than TOCA, and it's pretty damn well
customizable to represent anything from the American Le Mans series to
Australian V8s to Minis.
I have to agree with revved and the guys.
I've given it a chance and I'll probably give it more chances in the future
since I love Touring Car racing and would love a good sim, but once one
experiences GPL there's just no going back to traditional arcade-sims.

I've been playing SCGT for a while--and that 300MB patch that is out there
gave it exteneded life on my hard drive. I was hoping I had overlooked a
good touring sim out there. TOCA2 runs for about 20 bucks around here,
guess I'll pick it up and give it a try.
I figure, once LEADFOOT and DTR:Sprint Cars comes out, I'll probably look
for a way to permanently mount the wheel at the computer. Then with N4,
NASCAR Heat, and WSC, I'll just give my 2 weeks notice at work. I certainly
won't have time to race and hold a job...

I'll add my rec for TOCA2, as well as the Touring Cars you have
Formual Ford, TVRs, Jaguars, Lister Storms etc. The FF is VG with
the Act Labs wheel but v.dissapointing on MSFF wheel. Is pretty
light on Resource, my son runs it on a P150 with basic GFX card,
on-line as well and although a bit ugly, it runs great.
