I've had problems with newer reference drivers with my Banshee board,
too -- try manually setting the clock frequency to 100/100, or slightly
less. The drivers I'm using default to something my Creative Labs card
doesn't like, I guess, because when I set the clock to 100/100, it's
pretty stable; right now, I'm running at 96/96, I believe, and I'm
getting very good frame rates in F12K.

Before you buy.
Make sure you have the latest DX7.0a installed on also that your display drivers
are meant to be used with DX7. My Banshee gives much better framerate with the
latest DX7 optimized drivers, too bad it keeps crashing with them too :(

If it's NT5 (Win2000) you're talking about, see ntcompatible.com. The
reference drivers from 3dfx come with clocking set at 110, which is
too fast (was for me anyway; black screens).
You can set it at 100 in the registry somewhere. Where exactly is
obtainable from the .inf file that comes with the installation.
I have a Banshee running relatively fine. It's just the OpenGL drivers
are not really OpenGL compliant. At all. nVidia next time.

I tried doing this, but no change. Ten seconds into a race and bam, the screen
freezes, sound loops in the background and I have to reboot. The same thing with
SBK2000.
