I'm visiting a friend who has a new(ish) computer and he's having problems getting it set up properly for running GPL. Here's his system specs: HP Pavilion 9something computer P-III-600 I think. It is a P-III though. Riva Nvidia/TNT2 Vanta AGP video card. 128 Meg Memory. It's really strange. We instlled and ran Road Atlanta last night. At 800x600 resolution in training mode with no corner marshalls or any other cars, he was getting about 30-32 fps running in D3D. I thought it might be the Microsoft FF wheel, but I disabled the FF in the core.ini file and didn't notice much of any difference. Maybe 1 fps at most. My P-II-300 and V3-3000 combo will run this track at 1024x768 pegged almost the whole time at 36 fps with the same settings running in Glide. These results are typical for all the tracks, not just RA. My suspicions lie with the video card. The mirrors don't work at all and he's getting intermitent lock-ups within GPL as well. I tried to get the latest drivers from the Nvidia site, but they wouldn't work. It's really frustrating because I *KNOW* his computer is much faster than mine so it should run GPL better than mine. Here's a couple of thoughts: 1. I know the Microsoft FF wheel gives a large frame rate hit. Does it still cause the hit even when the FF is disabled in the core.ini? 2. Where do I go to get the latest drivers for the video card? The Nvidia drivers from the Nvidia website won't work. The computer won't finish booting up. 3. I had him kill all the background applications I could find and it helped the lock-up issue some, but didn't cure it. If it were my computer I'd format and reinstall Win98 because I really HATE all the crap HP filled the computer with. That's not too much of an option, though, because my friend doesn't want to mess with it and couldn't do it himself. Any help would be appreciated. -Chris- **Jesus saves sinners and redeems them for valuable cash prizes** Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.

When installing new drivers you should first change them to general VGA graphics adapter (PCI) and after booting install the new drivers. This might help... Marko Chris Cavin <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:8mp0c2$toe$[email hidden]...
