OK I just got the SB Live! X-Gamer. Somehow I thought I
remembered reading that many games were allot slower
with the EAX hardware acceleration turned on. Is this true?
Or did I remember wrong?
Totally cool effects in System Shock 2. Some mutant broke
a window pane behind me, and it sounded totally realistic.
I turned around and was getting wasted by flaming atomic
monkey crap :-) So EAX really adds to 3D sound quite a bit.
It would be sad if it slowed games down...
Thanks.

Someone DID mention this in here at some point, but AFAIK, the SB Live
uses next to no CPU recourses, at least all tests I've seen claims this,
so it would surprise a lot if it slowed it down noticeably.....
Beers and cheers

also improved awareness of GPL cars behind me
when set sound to max channel ( something like that)
but made to drive off more since I get unnerved
whenever the loud sound comes from behind
:-)

IMHO, you really need 4 speakers to
understand how it really shines.
