I thought it might be a good idea to mention a couple of things that came
out of our play tests...
1) Make sure your joystick is set up correctly/fully in Windows. Go into
the Game Controllers applet in the Control Panel. Make sure your game
controller driver is up to date, make sure it is configured correctly & make
sure it's calibrated. To maximize compatibility, we use the game controller
stuff in Windows, but we found in our external play tests that a lot of
people didn't have their controller set up correctly in Windows.
2) Make sure your video drivers are up to date. We're including drivers for
many of the major video cards out there right on the Heat CD, and we check
your driver version every time we start the game to make sure it's at least
as recent as the driver(s) we've certified in our compatibility tests. But,
you can save yourself a little time now & grab any updated drivers from the
video card manufacturer's site. FYI, DO NOT USE BETA DRIVERS! We ran
across some pre-release nVidia drivers, for example, and had some problems
with them. We've tested/certified/support only regular release drivers.

Any news regarding a demo? With it I could test my hardware until my friend
returns from the US handing me my US version of the sim, hopefully. As he
returns on August 29, I hope its release is not delayed a few days... ;)

I'm happy to hear you're testing your products. Since all other
games from Hasbro/MicroPross were looked like no external
beta testing,.(M1TP2, Falcon4.0, EAW, GP3, etc, etc, etc....
There were having distinct bugs if someone run through the
game would find easily.)

The real key is which way is the wheel facing. Unless it is .....naw...:)
I ....can't.....ok....I will....unless it is facing DIRECTLY toward you,
your
controller is NOT configured properly....

Many games (e.g. NASCAR 1, 2, '99 & 3) use proprietary controller code as
opposed to using the Windows stuff that we use in Heat. So, it's possible
that your wheel/joystick works in some other games but it may not work with
Heat until you confirm it's set up right in Windows.

Does it matter what "ID" your FF wheel is on to get FF? -E.g. with F12K the
wheel must have ID 1 to have force feedback effects, how about your
creation?

Uh Ed,
I think the first reply to your original post was meant to say thank you
for the heads up concerning video drivers, must have been deleted or
overlooked or something. I personally would like to say Bravo and many
kudos for posting in this NG. I'm amazed that a games exec would
actually greet the sim community at all, let alone give us access to
your knowledge and expertise concerning NH. Each post you make gets me
that much closer to buying NH just because you appear to give a Sh$t.
Your posting here rates highly in my book and your efforts to
communicate with this sim community is very much appreciated.
