I know you're all going to tell me just go experiment yourself
but I'm really hopeless at it. I think Solitude is an amazing
track and I'm amazed at the speed of some guy's racing in Vroc.
Even if someone could tell me a few tweak's to do to the default
setups it would be great.
Thank's

The default Solitude setups were created by Marc Mercer and are very
good as they are. Marc holds the best Solitude lap on my computer at
3:25.xx, done with the Ferrari.

Don,
I Agree that the Ferrari runs real nice on default setup at Solitude,
I've done a 3:37 after about 12 laps, 3 or 4 in the Lotus which was
about the same time except I ran wide on the last corner and hot
the hay bails on the right, Lotus is quicker down the long straight
but Ferrari seems to handle better through the twists in the later
section.
Anyway, not the reason for this post.
Where do these DEFAULT setups come from? i.e. where are they
stored? must be in the track .dat file I assume?
I was also wondering about the AI, is that "programmed" in some
way into the .dat? does the global hype system work with add-on
track?, boy, so many questions when I come to think.
Finally, not found any Solitude replays around so posted my initial
3:44 (a fortunate 5th lap) in the binary ng, would sure like to see
Marc's 3:25, any chance you could post that there.
TIA

Solitude Replays found at http://www.simracingmag.com/, including
Marc's WR 3:25.18 in a Ferrari.

I don't doubt it but I was looking for something with a bit less
oversteer. Of course I don't trust anything I feel these days now that
I'm using CH pedals and LFBing. I was all over the place with the
Lotus (which is the car I'm most used to) but the Eagle worked a
little better.

Depends when it's happening. Try softing the rear anti rollbar. If it's coming
around under braking move the brake bias forward(increase the number)
Go to Alisons page and download and install GPL Race Engineer, it's an
excellent read on car setup.

Well, it *was* the WR (though I tend not to count laps not posted at
Schubi's). If you go to Schubi's hotlaps site, at:
http://www.parc-ferme.de/fastlaps.htm
you'll see that the WR is now 3:23.24, by... well, well, well, if it
isn't that nice Mr Huttu again. And look who's second - it's that fine
gentleman Herr Woeger... :-)

Thanks, I've got GPLRE just never looked at it. Opportunity knocks.
Hold on, I think I'm going to get that :-) I should add that my old
credo of never trusting anyone under 30 has changed to never trusting
anyone under papy's benchmarks :)))
