First - I have a server that stopped working. When you run GPL, the screen flashes, then drops back to the desktop. I don't even get the GPL spash screen. I tried re-installing - no good. I tried DELETING and re-installing - no good. What did I miss? This system ran GPL just fine before. Compaq Presario 300mhz, 80MB ram, Win95. No 3D card, but I'm only running it as a server... Second, I tried to install some other tracks to another server. Imola, Brands, Dubai, Road Atlana work fine. Solitude gives me the dreaded "could not load track - cancelling weekend". If I try any other track(Including Solitude) after that, the program locks up. What's up with THAT? I even tried re-installing the track. No added cars, dashes, sounds, etc. were loaded on this system. Help... Eldred -- Tiger Stadium R.I.P. 1912-1999 Homepage - http://www.umich.edu/~epickett GPL hcp. +52.52 Never argue with an idiot. He brings you down to his level, then beats you with experience... Remove SPAM-OFF to reply.

Uh oh. Re-installing GPL was going to be my last resort, but if you've tried it and nothing works... Ok, my system is a P3 400, 128MB ram, 13GB free space, Win98. I disabled the virus checker and any other background programs. Did you try it right after the re-install? Meaning Solitude was the first extra track attempt... Finally someone proves that it wasn't just my imagination! We really should get to the bottom of this somehow. I've already tried everything possible to get it to work, including reinstall of the whole game as well as both versions of the track package. +Cinquo

Well, I just now read one of the readme.txt files that came with Snetterton and there is an obscure line about it not working in software mode! I think that is why we (as in you and I) are not able to get Solitude, Snetterton, Pants, and others to work. I started over yesterday installing GPL and the tracks and then read the readme. So I stopped and I am going to install the Voodoo2 that was at home in my work puter. Here is a list of what tracks do not work on my server: Atlanta (not Road Atlanta), Vancouver, Elkhart Lake, Mid Ohio, Sears Point (both), Pocono, Pants Ring, Snetterton, and Solitude. (All spelling errors are intentional and are there to show new and improved ways of spelling old words. Grammatical errors are due to too many English classes/teachers)

I installed the spare voodoo2 into my work computer and now all of the tracks work great. So . . . I would have to ASSuME that in order to have those tracks work on a GPL Server you need a card that will run in 3DFX, OpenGL, D3D, or Rendition. SLG [email hidden] (Steve Garrotto) wrote:

Actually I am having problems with Dubai, in that it has no road surface. It is all sand no grey track just all brown. Anyone know why? SLG [email hidden] (Steve Garrotto) wrote:

Well, the 'non-3D' isn't causing your problem with Vancouver. That track works FINE on my work system... So does Elkhart Lake. Gotta be something else. Well, for those, anyway. I still can't get GPL to run at ALL on my 3rd server. PII300, 80MB ram, 4GB hard drive space free, Win95. The screen flashes, then goes back to the desktop. It used to run fine, honest. I've tried re-installing, deleting and re-installing, deleting and re-installing the video card, re-installing directx, installing directx7, updating the monitor definition... This SOB is about to get re-formatted... Anybody got any last-ditch ideas? Anybody...? With Dubai, you need to set the detail slider to full right and turn objects on to full MS "Steve Garrotto" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...
