For all those longing to have Monza banking have you ever thought about
Meadowdale. This was a great track used during the 60's that was located 30mis
west of Chicago. It had a Monza wall ( a 180 degree turn fully banked like a
bowl maybee not as long as Monza's banked section) but the nice thing about
doing this track is that there would not be any cross over problems. Leading
into the Monza wall was a nice flat 180 degree turn where you could set up a
nice drift and hold it. Coming out of the wall was a long straight that had a
down hill run where the early Can Am or USRRC cars hit I think about 180mph.
The straight ended going uphill into a blind downhill off camber turn. As I
remember total track length was about 2.5 mis. It was a great track where the
old MeisterBrau Scarabs ran in the early 60's. They also had a great TransAm
race there and one of the USRRC races with early rear engine Can Am cars. It
was a fun track to race on with elevation changes, some long sustained turns,
Monza Wall, and fairly long straight. This is where I first got interested in
road racing and I actually raced on all 3 versions of the track ( original
layout is the great one ). Man I sure could enjoy a GPL add on of this track.
